Bumrah made his IPL debut at 19 years old. In his first game, he took 3 wickets. Even though Virat Kohli hit him for three fours, Bumrah got him out on the fifth ball! He played a big role in MI's wins in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
In the 2017 season, he was the top wicket-taker for MI. He even defended 12 runs in a special "super over" against the Gujarat Lions. In the final, he took two important wickets to help MI win the trophy. In 2019, he was named the player of the match in the IPL final. Bowling Style and Skills
Bumrah is known for his unique bowling style. He has a short run-up and an unusual arm action. But he can still bowl very fast! His different way of releasing the ball makes it hard for batters to guess what he will do. Because of this, the Indian team often uses him to bowl in the important "powerplay" and "death overs" of a game.
He often bowls balls that target the stumps. He also bowls many "yorkers" (balls that land right at the batter's feet) and "short length" balls. He can make the ball move sideways in the air, both ways, and use "reverse swing." This makes him very tricky to bat against.
"My all-time favourite bowlers are Mitchell Johnson, Wasim Akram and Brett Lee. I used to watch their videos and learn from them. I have learnt a lot from Johnson, and Malinga too. I try to learn from any senior bowlers who have played international cricket."
Bumrah's special elbow movement helps him release the ball from a unique spot. This makes the ball seem faster to the batter. It also helps him put a lot of spin on the ball, which can make it lift or dip unexpectedly. He can also bowl different types of slower balls, like the "off cutter," which has gotten many batters out.
He is known for his "late-swinging yorker," which he says he learned by practicing with a tennis ball. Bumrah is one of India's fastest bowlers. His average speed is about 142 kilometers per hour (88 mph). His fastest recorded speed was 153 kilometers per hour (95 mph)!
