Jeuss was a small town, also known as a municipality, in Switzerland. It was located in the canton of Fribourg, near a beautiful lake.

On January 1, 2016, Jeuss joined with some other nearby towns. These towns were Courlevon, Lurtigen, and Salvenach. Together, they all became part of a bigger town called Murten.

History of Jeuss

Jeuss is an old place with a long history! The first time we find Jeuss mentioned in official records was in the year 1340. Back then, it was known by a slightly different name: Juentes.

Geography of Jeuss

Jeuss was a pretty small area, covering about 1.8 square kilometers (0.7 square miles) in 2009. Most of this land, almost 80%, was used for farming. This means people grew crops and raised animals there.

About 10% of the land was covered by forests. The rest of the area, around 8%, had buildings and roads. A very small part, less than 1%, was made up of rivers or lakes.

The town itself was located on a gravelly area. It sat between the Biberen valley and a forest called Galm. Jeuss was a "linear village," which means its buildings were mostly spread out along a road.
