Salvenach (also known as Salvagny in French) was once a small town, or municipality, in the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. It was special because most people there spoke German, even though Fribourg is mostly French-speaking. On January 1, 2016, Salvenach joined with other nearby towns like Courlevon, Jeuss, and Lurtigen to become part of Murten.

History of Salvenach
Salvenach is quite old! The first time it was ever written about was in the year 1179. Back then, its name was Salvegnez.

Salvenach covered an area of about 3.81 square kilometers (1.47 square miles).
- A big part of this land, about 70.1%, was used for farming.
- About 22.8% was covered by forests.
- The remaining 7.9% was used for buildings and roads.
Most of the forested land was covered with thick forests. For farming, over half the land (57.5%) was used for growing crops. Another 11.8% was used as pastures for animals.
This former town is located east of Murten on a flat area. It mainly consists of one long village called Salvenach.
