Joseph Graham Sugg (born 8 September 1991) is a popular English YouTuber and actor. He started making videos in 2012 on his YouTube channel called ThatcherJoe. This channel now has over 7 million subscribers. In 2018, he was a finalist on the TV show Strictly Come Dancing. He also acted in the West End musical Waitress in 2019. Joe is the younger brother of another famous YouTuber, Zoe Sugg.

Joe Sugg's Early Life
Joe Sugg was born in Lacock, Wiltshire, England. He went to The Corsham School in Corsham, Wiltshire. He did very well in his A-levels, which are important exams in the UK.
Joe's YouTube channel, 'ThatcherJoe', got its name from his first job. He used to be an apprentice roof thatcher. His older sister, Zoe Sugg, is also a well-known internet personality. She is famous on YouTube as Zoella.
In 2021, Joe appeared on the TV show Who Do You Think You Are?. He learned that some of his family members from Jersey worked with electrical telegraphy a long time ago. He also found out that his very old ancestors were Huguenot refugees. They came from Frênes in Normandy, France, to escape religious problems in the 1700s.

Becoming a YouTube Star
Joe Sugg started his 'ThatcherJoe' channel in November 2011. Just two years later, he had one million subscribers! His channel became famous for fun videos like pranks, impressions, and challenges. One of his most popular videos was the "Whisper challenge" in 2014. This challenge became a big trend on YouTube.
In January 2013, Joe started a second channel called 'ThatcherJoeVlogs'. This channel was for his daily video diaries. In June 2014, he made a third channel, 'ThatcherJoeGames', where he played video games.
Joe has also used his voice for animated shows. In 2020, he was the voice of a robot named R-41 in Daleks!. This was an animated Doctor Who series on YouTube. In 2022, he voiced the host of Corpse Talk. This animated chat show for kids is based on graphic novels about historical figures.
Acting on Film and TV
Joe Sugg has had several acting roles. In 2015, he was the voice of a seagull in the UK version of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. That same year, he starred with Caspar Lee in a movie called Joe and Caspar Hit the Road. This movie was later shown on the British TV channel E4. They made a second movie, Joe & Caspar Hit the Road USA, in 2016.
Joe also appeared on TV shows. In 2017, he was on Release the Hounds with fellow YouTubers Alfie Deyes and Marcus Butler.
In 2018, Joe made history as the first 'social media star' to join Strictly Come Dancing. He danced with professional dancer Dianne Buswell. They did very well and finished as runners-up in the competition. After Strictly, Joe co-hosted New Year Live with Stacey Dooley. He also co-hosted The One Show and helped with the Red Nose Day telethon in 2019.
Joe continued his voice acting. He voiced Gus in the UK version of the film Wonder Park (2019). He also voiced Azreal in an episode of The Amazing World of Gumball. In 2019, he had a small voice role in the Aardman film A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon.
In 2020, Joe was a contestant on The Great Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off. He even won the title of Star Baker! In 2020, he made his acting debut in the BBC One drama The Syndicate. In 2021, he joined the cast of the animated movie The Amazing Maurice, which came out in 2022.
Music and Stage Performances
Joe Sugg was part of the YouTube Boyband. They raised money for Comic Relief. He also sang on the 2014 charity song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" with Band Aid 30. This song raised money to help with the Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa. In 2020, Joe released his first song, "Say It Now". His second song, "Wild Things", came out in 2021.
In 2019, Joe performed in the musical Waitress in London's West End. He played the role of Ogie Anhorn from September to November 2019.
Graphic Novels and Books
Joe Sugg has also written books. He wrote a graphic novel series called Username. The first book, Username: Evie, came out in 2015. It was about a bullied teenage girl named Evie. Her father creates a virtual world for her before he passes away. Evie then enters this world, where everything changes based on her personality. Username: Evie became the fastest-selling graphic novel in the UK.
The second book, Username: Regenerated, was published in 2016. The third and final book in the series, Username: Uprising, was released in 2017.
In 2022, Joe announced he had written a book called Grow. This book is part memoir and part guide about connecting with nature in today's digital world.

From September 2018, Joe Sugg was a contestant on the sixteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing. He was partnered with Australian dancer Dianne Buswell. They danced their way to the final and finished as runners-up.

Joe Sugg's Personal Life
Joe Sugg has been in a relationship with Dianne Buswell since late 2018. They met when they were dance partners on Strictly Come Dancing. In 2019, they confirmed they were living together. In 2021, they bought a house together.
In 2018, Joe and Caspar Lee started a company called Margravine (now MVE). This company helps new digital talents grow their careers.
In 2022, Joe's production company, Final Straw Productions, teamed up with BBC Studios. They plan to create fun and educational shows for all ages. In 2024, his company released a dating show pilot on YouTube called "Date Me At My Worst".
Joe often shares his artwork on his social media pages. He is also an ambassador for the charity Age UK, which helps older people.
