Lee Gordon McKillop (born 4 August 1968), known as Lee Mack, is a famous English comedian and actor. He is well-known for his quick wit and funny jokes.
Lee Mack is the writer and star of the popular TV show Not Going Out. He is also a team captain on the comedy panel show Would I Lie to You?. You might also know him from hosting The 1% Club and Duck Quacks Don't Echo. He has appeared on many other shows like Have I Got News for You and QI. In 2024, he acted in a play called The Unfriend in London's West End.

Lee Mack's Early Life and First Jobs
Lee Mack was born on 4 August 1968 in Southport, England. He lived above a pub until he was 12 years old. He went to several schools, including Stanley High School.
After school, Lee had many different jobs. He worked in a bingo hall and even as a stable boy. One amazing story from his time at the stables is that he once rode the famous racehorse Red Rum! He didn't know it was Red Rum at the time.
Later, Lee worked as an entertainer, called a Blue Coat, at Pontin's holiday resorts. He worked at resorts in Hemsby and Morecambe.
In 1994, while studying Drama at Brunel University, Lee tried stand-up comedy for the first time. He quickly became a full-time comedian.
Lee Mack's Comedy Career
Lee Mack became famous after winning the So You Think You're Funny competition in 1995. This was at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a big arts festival. A few years later, he was nominated for another top award at the festival for his comedy show.
He also played the character Graham in the radio show The Mighty Boosh. Lee also had his own radio show on BBC Radio 2 called The Lee Mack Show.
Lee Mack on Television
Lee Mack has been on many TV shows. He was a cast member on The Sketch Show for ITV.
In 2005, he hosted They Think It's All Over, a comedy show about sports.
His own sitcom, Not Going Out, started in 2006 on BBC One. Lee plays the main character, Lee. The show has been very successful and has won awards like the Rose d'Or. It has been on for many seasons, with new episodes still coming out.
Since 2007, Lee has been a team captain on the funny panel show Would I Lie to You?. He has also been a guest host on Have I Got News for You and Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
Lee has performed on Live at the Apollo, where comedians do stand-up. He also appeared on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
In 2011, Lee hosted Lee Mack's All Star Cast on BBC One. This show involved audience members playing games to earn a spot in a sketch. In 2012, he was one of the hosts for Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee Concert outside Buckingham Palace.
From 2014 to 2017, Lee presented Duck Quacks Don't Echo on Sky1. This was another comedy panel show with celebrity guests.
In 2018, Lee appeared in an episode of Doctor Who called "Kerblam!".
In 2021, Lee was a contestant on Taskmaster, where celebrities complete funny and strange challenges.
In 2022, Lee started hosting two new shows. One was Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof on BBC One, where people take on cold challenges. The other was The 1% Club on ITV, a popular game show. The 1% Club has been so popular that it has been renewed for more seasons and Christmas specials.
In June 2022, Lee was a host at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee concert, called Platinum Party at the Palace. He also hosted the Royal Variety Performance in November 2022.
In 2023, Lee appeared in an episode of the show Inside No. 9. He played himself hosting a fake quiz show.
Lee Mack's Podcast
Lee Mack is interested in Buddhism and mindfulness. Since 2020, he has hosted a podcast with Neil Webster called I Can't Believe It's Not Buddha. It's all about these topics.
Lee Mack's Stand-up Comedy Tours
Lee Mack has performed many stand-up comedy shows. In 2006, he went on his first tour and filmed his first live DVD. In 2010, he went on his "Going Out" tour, which was very popular and sold out quickly. He also performed at the Royal Variety Performance in 2010.
In 2010, Lee took part in Channel 4's Comedy Gala. This was a special show to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital for children.
Other Stage Work
In March 2017, Lee Mack made his acting debut on stage in a play called The Miser at the Garrick Theatre in London.
Lee Mack's Personal Life
Lee Mack met his wife, Tara, at Brunel University in 1996. They got married in 2005 and live in Surrey with their three children. His oldest son, Arlo, and daughter, Millie, have even appeared briefly in episodes of Not Going Out.
Lee found out more about his family history on the TV show Who Do You Think You Are?. He learned that his great-grandfather was also a comedian named William Alexander McKillop, who used the stage name Billy Mac.
Lee is a big fan of the football team Blackburn Rovers. He also enjoys playing darts with his friend and former Not Going Out co-star, Tim Vine. Lee Mack even held two Guinness World Records for darts! One was for the most darts hitting the number two in one minute. The other was for the most darts hitting the bullseye in one minute.
In 2012, Lee received an honorary doctorate from Brunel University. He also wrote an autobiography called Mack the Life.
Lee has a fear of flying. He often travels by train instead of planes, even for long distances. For example, he traveled by train to Barcelona.
Lee has played in several Soccer Aid matches to raise money for UNICEF. In these charity football games, he has scored goals for the World XI team. In 2022, he scored the winning penalty for the World XI!
