The episode begins with Connor discovering other missing kids that were taken by the Shadowman. He hears the group in the cottage and yells for help. The Shadowman duplicates Connor, who is actually the Shadowman himself impersonating Connor. The duplicate Connor finds his way to the group. The group notices his dilapidated eyes, and unresponsive emotion. They make the choice of leaving him at his house for the day, with Gabby staying to watch him. Luke returns the Book Of Shadows to Sardo, but lies about using it. At school, Luke forgets his presentation. In order to protect from a bad grade, Hanna lies and says his presentation is connected to hers. They successfully make a light using a potato and wires, though hold hands in the process. After the presentation is done, Hanna asks Luke to the glow dance, which Luke happily accepts. The Shadowman, in Connor form, attempts to attack Gabby from behind while she is prepping for PSAT's. Gabby notices him creeping behind and confronts him. He plays it off by saying he wanted to apologize for yelling at her when she nearly came into his room while he was in Shadow form in Connor's body. While decorating for the glow dance, Jai asks Luke how he took on the Shadowman without fear. Luke responds by saying he had help. Jai feels he's nothing but a scaredy-cat for always being afraid when the Shadowman encounters them, and calls Luke the real hero of a comic story Jai idolizes. Luke modestly admits he is, but Jai could be his hero in his own comic book if he tried.

After studying with Gabby for a while, the Shadowman, in Connor form, asks if they can go to the glow dance now. Gabby declines, which enrages him,Yelling at her. Gabby leaves due to the rudeness the fake Connor displayed. Gabby has another run-in with the Shadowman, with Connor saving her at the last second. He suggests that they go to the glow dance to warn the others. While asking Sardo for some scary plots for his enrollment story to the Midnight Society, Seth accidently slips that Luke used the Book of Shadows to save them, while finding out in the process that instead of protecting them from the Shadowman in daylight, he reversed it, making the Shadowman bearable to light. Sardo and Seth leave to alert the others as well. Gabby and Connor/Shadowman look for objects that have light. When Gabby suggests they leave, Connor refuses and tells to look closer for stuff like the light yo-yo Gabby used to fight off the Shadowman in their first fight with it. Gabby, never have told Connor that, starts to get suspcious. Gabby tests his about himself, and reminds him of a zombie movie the real Connor hates, though talking about it in a positive way. Believing the real Connor likes it, he says he loves it. Gabby then realizes that's not the real Connor. The Shadowman then locks her in the janitor's room, now that she knows. Connor/Shadowman meets Jai in the gym during the dance. While Connor urges Jai to find Luke, he knocks over a comic book, which is known to predict the next problem with the Shadowman, into Jai's view.

Jai notices the next picture is himself getting peer-pressured by the Shadowman. Jai, realizing that's what's happening now, tries to make a run for the bathroom, but Connor/Shadowman forces him to sit down. Gabby, finally getting out of the janitor's room, sees Jai getting man-held by Connor/Shadowman, and runs toward him, but a spotlight is put on Jai and Connor/Shadowman, releasing Jai from his hold, now that light works on the Shadowman, since it's over sunset now. The people who put the spotlight on them are revealed to be Sardo and Seth, having finally been to able to get in. Sardo makes an illusion to hide the kids from the Shadowman. They barricade themselves in a classroom. Seeing they have no light to protect themselves with, they reinvent the potato light project they did eariler. Seth goes out the window, with Hanna and Gabby following. Luke makes it out too, thinking Jai was following. Jai, tired of running, stays to give the group more time to escape. He sits down to read the Predictions comic book. The Shadowman breaks down the door and stares down Jai. Jai calmly says that the Shadowman isn't really that scary. The Shadowman grabs hold of Jai, and chokes him, before throwing him. The predictions comic book lays on the floor, revealing visions of the events that just occurred, revealing why Jai was so calm.
