- In 1980, Dr. King's childhood home in Atlanta, Georgia, became the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site. You can visit his home and other nearby buildings.
- The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Gardens in Raleigh, North Carolina was the first public park in the U.S. made to honor Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement. It has a statue of Dr. King and a large stone monument.
