This is a list of popular potato chip brands from different parts of the world. Potato chips are thin slices of potato that are deep-fried or baked until they are crispy. They are a very popular snack!

Potato Chips in North America

In the United States, you'll find many potato chip brands. Big national companies include Frito-Lay, Pringles, and Kettle Brand. There are also popular regional brands like Jay's in Chicago and Utz in Pennsylvania.

Some common potato chip flavors in the US are barbecue, sour cream and onion, salt and vinegar, and jalapeño. In the southern US, Zapp's makes unique chips with local flavors like Crawtator and Voodoo. Pennsylvania is known as "the Potato Chip Capital" because many chip companies are located there, such as Utz Quality Foods and Herr's Snacks.

In Canada, you can find special flavors like all-dressed, dill pickle, and ketchup. Lay's also offers flavors like Sea Salt and Vinegar and Honey BBQ. Loblaw, a big food store, has unusual flavors under its President's Choice brand, including poutine and maple bacon chips!

In Colombia, you might find potato chips flavored with lemon, chicken, chorizo, or even sirloin steak with mushroom sauce!

Potato Chips in the United Kingdom

In the United Kingdom, Walkers is the biggest potato chip brand. They have many flavors, with Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar, and Prawn Cocktail being very popular. You can also find more unique flavors like Thai sweet chili or roast pork.

Walkers often asks the public to suggest new flavors in their "Do Us a Flavour" campaigns. People come up with creative ideas, and some even become special edition chips!

Back in 1981, a pub owner in Wales made "hedgehog flavoured" crisps as a joke. They became surprisingly popular! However, some people worried that real hedgehogs were being used. It turned out the chips were flavored with pork fat. To solve the problem, the chips were then labeled "Hedgehog® Flavoured Crisps" to show it was just a flavor.

Potato Chips in Europe

In Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, the most common chip flavors are red paprika and plain salted. But now, you can also find sour cream and onion, cheese, or even flavors like "Chakalaka" and "Currywurst". Chips made from ground potatoes are called Stapelchips in Germany.

In Ireland, cheese and onion, and salt and vinegar are the most popular flavors. The word "Tayto" is often used to mean potato chips in Ireland, even for other brands, because the Tayto brand is so famous. Tayto even has its own theme park called "Tayto Park"!

In Russia, you can find common European flavors like paprika and cheese. But there are also unique seafood flavors like "grilled salmon," "shrimp," and "Kamchatka's crab" from brands like Russkaya Kartoshka and Lay's. Lay's also has special flavors just for the Russian market, like crab and no-cream green onion. Some brands, like "Just Brutal," even sell pitch-black chips!

Potato Chips in Asia

In Japan, you can find many interesting chip flavors. Some popular ones include norishio (nori and salt), consommé, wasabi, soy sauce and butter, and garlic. You might also find flavors like pizza, teriyaki, and yakitori. Major chip makers in Japan are Calbee and Koikeya.

In Indonesia, potato chips are called kripik kentang. The main brands are Chitato and Lay's (Frito-Lay). Common flavors include beef barbecue, spicy chicken, and cheese. Lay's in Indonesia offers flavors like honey butter and salmon teriyaki. Chitato even had a campaign with unusual flavors like beef rendang and fried crab golden egg yolk!

In Hong Kong, two well-known potato chip types are the spicy "Ethnican" by Calbee and barbecue by Jack 'n Jill.
