Michy Batshuayi-Atunga, born on October 2, 1993, is a professional football player from Belgium. He plays as a striker, which means he's a forward player who scores goals. Currently, he plays for the German club Eintracht Frankfurt and also for the Belgian national team.
Michy started his professional football journey at Standard Liège in 2011. He scored 44 goals in 120 games for them. In the 2013–14 season, he scored 21 goals, making him one of the top scorers in the Belgian league. He even won the Ebony Shoe Award for being the best player of African origin that season.
After Standard Liège, he moved to the French club Marseille in 2014. He helped them reach the final of the French Cup in 2016. In July 2016, he joined the famous English club Chelsea. He scored the winning goal that helped Chelsea win the Premier League title in his very first season with them!
Michy has also played for other big clubs on loan, like Borussia Dortmund in Germany, Valencia in Spain, Crystal Palace in England, and Beşiktaş in Turkey. In 2022, he joined Fenerbahçe in Turkey. Starting at Standard Liège
Michy Batshuayi was born in Brussels, Belgium. His parents are from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Before joining Standard Liège, he played for several youth teams.
He made his first appearance for Standard Liège's main team on February 20, 2011. He scored his first professional goal on December 15, 2011, in a UEFA Europa League match. This goal helped his team move forward in the competition. He scored two more goals in a Belgian Cup game a few days later.
In the 2013–14 season, Michy scored 21 goals in 34 games. This made him the second-highest scorer in the league. He also scored his first professional hat-trick (three goals in one game) on September 15. For his great performance, he won the Ebony Shoe Award. This award is given to the best player of African origin in the Belgian league.
Moving to Marseille
On August 8, 2014, Michy joined the French club Marseille. He made his debut the very next day. On October 29, he scored his first goal for the club. He scored nine league goals in his first season, even though he often started games from the bench.
In August 2015, he scored two goals in a big 6–0 win. The club president said that many top clubs around the world were interested in Michy. By the middle of the season, he had scored 11 goals in 19 games. He finished the league season with 17 goals. He also scored in the French Cup final in 2016, but Marseille lost that game.
Time at Chelsea

In July 2016, Michy signed a five-year contract with the English Premier League club Chelsea. He was the first player signed by Chelsea's new manager, Antonio Conte. Michy said he wanted to help Chelsea win the Premier League title again.
He made his first game appearance for Chelsea on August 15, 2016. He helped set up the winning goal in a 2–1 victory. Five days later, he scored his first Premier League goal. On August 23, he scored two goals in his first start for Chelsea in the EFL Cup.
On May 12, 2017, Michy came on as a substitute in a game against West Bromwich Albion. He scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute, which meant Chelsea won their fifth Premier League title! He ended that season with 5 goals in only 236 minutes of playing time. This means he scored a goal about every 47 minutes.
In the 2017–18 season, Michy scored his first hat-trick for Chelsea on September 20, 2017. This was in a 5–1 win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. A week later, he scored the winning goal in a Champions League match against Atlético Madrid.
Loan to Borussia Dortmund
On January 31, 2018, Michy joined the German club Borussia Dortmund on loan. In his first game on February 2, he scored two goals and helped with another. He was the first player to score multiple goals in his first Bundesliga game since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He continued to score important goals for Dortmund in the league and in the Europa League.
Loan to Valencia
On August 10, 2018, Michy was loaned to the Spanish club Valencia. He made his debut ten days later. On September 26, he scored his first goal for Valencia. This made him the first player in the 21st century to score in the top leagues of France, Germany, England, and Spain.
Loans to Crystal Palace
In January 2019, Michy's loan to Valencia ended early. He then joined the English club Crystal Palace on loan. He made his debut on February 2, helping his team win 2–0. He scored his first goal for Crystal Palace on February 23.
On October 23, 2019, Michy scored a late winning goal for Chelsea in a Champions League game against Ajax. He also scored in an FA Cup game in January 2020.
On September 10, 2020, Michy returned to Crystal Palace for a second loan spell.
Loan to Beşiktaş
On August 18, 2021, Michy extended his contract with Chelsea and then joined the Turkish club Beşiktaş on loan. He scored 14 goals in 33 games for them. He also helped Beşiktaş win the Turkish Super Cup on January 5, 2022, by scoring in the penalty shootout.
Joining Fenerbahçe
On September 2, 2022, Michy signed a two-year contract with Fenerbahçe, another big club in Istanbul, Turkey. On October 30, he scored his first hat-trick for Fenerbahçe. On June 11, 2023, he scored two goals in the Turkish Cup final, helping Fenerbahçe win the trophy.

Playing for Galatasaray
On July 1, 2024, Galatasaray announced that Michy had joined their club. He signed a three-year contract. This made him the first foreign player to play for all three of Turkey's biggest football clubs.
Moving to Eintracht Frankfurt
On February 3, 2025, Michy signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.
International Career
Michy could have played for the DR Congo national team because of his parents. However, in March 2015, he chose to play for Belgium.
He made his first game appearance for Belgium on March 28, 2015. This was in a UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying match against Cyprus. He came into the game as a substitute and scored a goal three minutes later, helping Belgium win 5–0.
He was chosen to play in the Euro 2016 tournament in France. In a game against Hungary on June 26, he scored a goal with his very first touch after coming on as a substitute.
In the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification games, Michy scored a goal against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Belgium had already secured their spot in the World Cup. His manager, Roberto Martínez, included him in the team for the tournament in Russia. In a group stage match against Tunisia, he came on as a substitute and scored Belgium's fifth goal in a 5–2 win.
Michy was also part of the Belgian squad for the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament. He was called up for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He scored the only goal in Belgium's first game against Canada. However, Belgium did not score any more goals and was eliminated in the group stage.
Despite scoring many goals for his club in the 2023–24 season, he was not chosen for Belgium's team for the UEFA Euro 2024 finals.
