Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (born 18 June 1989) is a famous footballer who plays as a striker. He currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah. He is also the captain of the Gabon national team.
Aubameyang started his career in France, playing on loan from AC Milan. He then joined Saint-Étienne in 2011, where he won a Coupe de la Ligue title. In 2013, he moved to Borussia Dortmund in Germany. There, he became the league's top goalscorer in the 2016–17 season and won a DFB-Pokal cup. He is one of Dortmund's top goalscorers of all time.
In 2018, Aubameyang made a big move to Arsenal in England. He won an FA Cup with them and was the joint-top goalscorer in the 2018–19 season. After Arsenal, he played for Barcelona and Chelsea before joining Marseille in 2023.
Even though he was born in France, Aubameyang chose to play for Gabon. He first played for Gabon in 2009 when he was 19. With 33 goals, he is Gabon's all-time top scorer. He has played in four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and the 2012 Summer Olympics. In 2016, he was named African Footballer of the Year, which is a huge award.

Club Journey
Starting Out: AC Milan and Loans
Aubameyang joined AC Milan's youth team in 2007. He did well in a youth tournament in Malaysia, scoring seven goals in six games. This made many scouts notice him.
To gain experience, Aubameyang was loaned to Dijon in France for the 2008–09 season. He scored ten goals there. The next season, he was loaned to Lille, where he scored two goals. In the 2010–11 season, he was loaned to Monaco and then to Saint-Étienne. He scored four goals and had three assists that season.
Shining at Saint-Étienne
Aubameyang officially joined Saint-Étienne in December 2011. He quickly became a key player. In February 2012, he scored his first hat-trick (three goals in one game) against Lorient. He ended the 2011–12 season as the 4th top scorer in Ligue 1 with 16 goals.
On 20 April 2013, Aubameyang helped Saint-Étienne win the 2013 Coupe de la Ligue Final. This was his first major trophy as a professional player. He finished the 2012–13 season with 19 goals, making him the second-highest scorer in the league. This was a breakout year for him. He was named in the Ligue 1 team of the season and won the Ligue 1 African Player of the Year award.
Success at Borussia Dortmund
Winning Trophies in Germany
On 4 July 2013, Aubameyang signed a five-year contract with Borussia Dortmund. He made his first appearance for them in the DFL-Supercup against Bayern Munich, which Dortmund won 4–2. On 10 August, he scored a hat-trick in his first Bundesliga game against FC Augsburg. He was the first Gabonese player to play in the Bundesliga.
Aubameyang continued to score important goals. On 13 August 2014, he helped Dortmund win the DFL-Supercup again, scoring one goal and assisting another. He even celebrated by putting on a Spider-Man mask! He scored 25 goals in 46 games during his second season with Dortmund.
Top Scorer and Cup Winner
On 31 July 2015, Aubameyang signed a new contract with Dortmund, showing he wanted to stay. He made history by scoring in his team's first six (and then eight) Bundesliga matches of the season. On 22 October, he scored a hat-trick in a UEFA Europa League game. A few days later, he scored another hat-trick in a 5–1 win against Augsburg.
By January 2016, he had scored 20 league goals. He reached 30 goals in all competitions in a cup game against VfB Stuttgart. He finished the Bundesliga season as the second-top scorer with 25 goals.
In the 2016–17 season, Aubameyang continued his amazing scoring form. He scored twice in his first game and kept scoring regularly. On 19 November, he scored the only goal in a 1–0 win against rivals Bayern Munich. This was Dortmund's first league win against Bayern since 2014. On 7 December, he scored a crucial goal in a 2–2 draw with Real Madrid in the Champions League.
On 4 March 2017, he scored two goals against Bayer Leverkusen, reaching over 20 Bundesliga goals for the second season in a row. He scored a hat-trick against Benfica in the Champions League, helping Dortmund reach the quarter-finals. He ended the season as the Bundesliga's top scorer with 31 goals. On 27 May 2017, he scored the winning penalty in the 2017 DFB-Pokal Final, helping Dortmund beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2–1 and win the cup.
Time at Arsenal
Premier League Golden Boot Winner
On 31 January 2018, Aubameyang joined Premier League club Arsenal for a club-record fee. He made his debut on 3 February, scoring in a 5–1 win against Everton. He quickly showed his scoring ability, becoming the first player to score five goals in his first six games for Arsenal.
He scored his first goal of the next season against Cardiff City on 2 September 2018. By October 2018, he had scored 16 goals in the Premier League for Arsenal, setting a record for the best goals-per-minute ratio (minimum 10 goals). He was the first player to reach 10 goals in the Premier League that season, scoring twice in a 4–2 win against Tottenham Hotspur. On 9 May 2019, he scored his first Arsenal hat-trick in a 4–2 win against Valencia, helping Arsenal reach the Europa League final.
Aubameyang finished the season sharing the Premier League Golden Boot award with 22 goals. Arsenal lost the Europa League final to Chelsea, which meant they missed out on Champions League qualification.
FA Cup Victory and Captaincy

On 11 August 2019, Aubameyang scored Arsenal's first goal of the new season in a 1–0 win against Newcastle United. His goals in September, including important equalizers and a winner, earned him the Premier League Player of the Month award. On 5 November 2019, he was named the new Arsenal captain.
He continued to score crucial goals, including two in a 2–2 draw with Norwich City. On 11 January 2020, he was sent off for the first time in his Arsenal career during a game against Crystal Palace.
After the league restarted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Aubameyang scored two goals against Norwich City on 1 July. His first goal was his 50th in the league for Arsenal, making him the fastest player to reach this milestone for the club in the Premier League era, doing it in just 79 games. He finished the season with 22 league goals.
On 18 July, he scored both goals in Arsenal's 2–0 FA Cup semi-final win against Manchester City. On 1 August, he scored a penalty and the winning goal in the final, as Arsenal beat Chelsea 2–1. Aubameyang lifted his first trophy as Arsenal captain, becoming the first African captain to win the FA Cup.
On 29 August 2020, Aubameyang scored in normal time and the winning penalty in a shoot-out against Liverpool in the Community Shield, which Arsenal won. He signed a new three-year contract with Arsenal on 15 September. On 1 November, he scored a penalty in a 1–0 win against Manchester United, giving Arsenal their first Premier League win at Old Trafford since 2006.
On 14 February 2021, Aubameyang scored his first Premier League hat-trick for Arsenal in a 4–2 win over Leeds United. This meant he had scored 200 career goals in Europe's top five leagues. However, in March, he was left out of a game for disciplinary reasons. In December 2021, he was again left out of the squad and was stripped of the captaincy. On 1 February 2022, Aubameyang left Arsenal.
Moving to Barcelona and Chelsea
On 2 February 2022, Aubameyang joined Barcelona. He made his debut on 6 February. On 20 February, he scored his first three goals for Barcelona in a 4–1 win against Valencia. On 20 March, he scored two goals and assisted another in a big 4–0 win against Real Madrid. In May 2023, Barcelona won the 2022–23 La Liga title, giving Aubameyang his first league title, even though he had moved to Chelsea earlier in the season.
On 2 September 2022, Aubameyang signed a two-year contract with Chelsea. He made his debut on 6 September in a Champions League game. On 1 October, he scored his first goal for Chelsea in a 2–1 win against Crystal Palace. He scored two goals against his former club AC Milan in the Champions League group stage.
Playing for Marseille and Al-Qadsiah
On 21 July 2023, Aubameyang joined Olympique de Marseille. He made his debut on 12 August. Three days later, he scored two goals in a Champions League qualifying match. In December 2023, he was named the Ligue 1 Player of the Month after scoring four goals and assisting four others. On 22 February, Aubameyang became the top goal scorer in the history of the UEFA Europa League with 31 goals.
On 18 July 2024, Aubameyang signed a two-year contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah.
International Career

Aubameyang was born in France and could have played for France or Italy. He also has Spanish nationality. However, he chose to represent Gabon because his father used to be the captain of their national team.
He made his debut for the Gabon national team on 25 March 2009. He scored his first goal in a 2–1 win against Morocco. Aubameyang was a very important player for Gabon. He helped them reach the quarter-finals of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring three goals.
In July 2012, Aubameyang played for Gabon at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He scored Gabon's first-ever Olympic goal against Switzerland. On 15 June 2013, he scored three penalty kicks in Gabon's 4–1 win against Niger.
Aubameyang was the captain of Gabon at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. He scored the team's first goal in the tournament. On 25 March 2021, he captained Gabon to a 3–0 win against DR Congo, scoring a goal that helped them qualify for the African Cup of Nations.
He faced some health challenges during his international career, which sometimes kept him from playing. On 18 May 2022, Aubameyang announced he was retiring from international football. He had played 72 games for Gabon and scored 30 goals. However, a year later, he changed his mind and decided to return to the national team after meeting with President Ali Bongo Ondimba.

Personal Life
Aubameyang was born in Laval, France. His father, Pierre Aubameyang, was also a Gabonese international footballer. Pierre-Emerick has two older half-brothers, Catilina and Willy, who also played football. His mother is Spanish.
He is married to Alysha Behague, and they have two sons, Curtys and Pierre. Aubameyang can speak several languages, including French, English, Spanish, Italian, and German.
