Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (born 18 June 1989) is a professional footballer. He plays as a striker for Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah. He is also the captain of the Gabon national team.
Aubameyang started his career with AC Milan in Italy. He then played for several French clubs on loan. In 2011, he joined Saint-Étienne permanently. There, he won the Coupe de la Ligue. He moved to Borussia Dortmund in Germany in 2013. He was the top goalscorer in the 2016–17 season and won the DFB-Pokal with Dortmund. He is also one of the club's top goalscorers ever.
In 2018, Aubameyang joined Arsenal for a club record fee. He became the most expensive Gabonese player in history. With Arsenal, he won an FA Cup and was the joint-top goalscorer in the 2018–19 season. After leaving Arsenal in 2022, he played for Barcelona and Chelsea. In 2023, he signed with Marseille, and in 2024, he joined Al-Qadsiah.
Aubameyang was born in France but chose to play for Gabon internationally. He first played for Gabon in 2009 when he was 19. He is Gabon's all-time top scorer with 35 goals. He played in four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and the 2012 Summer Olympics. In 2016, he was named African Footballer of the Year. He was the first Gabonese player to win this award.

Club Career Highlights
Early Career and Loans
Aubameyang joined AC Milan's youth team in 2007. He played well in a youth tournament in Malaysia, scoring seven goals in six matches.
Loan to Dijon (2008–2009)
For the 2008–09 season, Aubameyang was loaned to Dijon in France. This helped him get experience playing with the first team. He scored ten goals and made two assists in all games.
Loan to Lille (2009–2010)
In June 2009, Aubameyang was loaned to Lille. He scored two goals in 14 games during this period.
Loans to Monaco and Saint-Étienne (2010–2011)
Aubameyang was loaned to Monaco for the 2010–11 season. He scored his first goal for Monaco in August 2010. In January 2011, he was loaned to Saint-Étienne. He finished that season with four goals and three assists. His loan to Saint-Étienne was extended for the 2011–12 season.
Playing for Saint-Étienne
On 22 December 2011, Aubameyang officially joined Saint-Étienne. He quickly became a key player for the team. In February 2012, he scored his first hat-trick (three goals in one game) against Lorient. He scored half of the team's away goals that season. He ended up as the 4th top scorer in Ligue 1 with 16 goals.
On 20 April 2013, Aubameyang helped Saint-Étienne win the 2013 Coupe de la Ligue Final. This was his first major trophy as a professional footballer. He finished the season with 18 goals and seven assists. In the 2012–13 season, he was the second-highest scorer in Ligue 1 with 19 goals. This was a breakout year for him. He was named in the Ligue 1 team of the season and won the Ligue 1 African Player of the Year award.
Time at Borussia Dortmund
Winning the DFL Supercups (2013–2015)
On 4 July 2013, Aubameyang joined Borussia Dortmund. He made his first appearance for them on 27 July 2013. This was against Bayern Munich in the DFL-Supercup. Dortmund won 4–2, and Aubameyang helped set up the final goal. On 10 August, he scored a hat-trick in his first Bundesliga game against FC Augsburg. He was the first Gabonese player to play in the Bundesliga. In November, he scored his first Champions League goal. He finished the year with 13 league goals.
On 13 August 2014, Aubameyang scored a goal and assisted another in Dortmund's 2–0 win over Bayern Munich in the DFL-Supercup. He celebrated by wearing a Spider-Man mask. He scored two goals in a cup match against Stuttgarter Kickers. He also scored against Arsenal in the Champions League. He ended his second season with Dortmund with 25 goals.
League Runner-up (2015–2016)
On 31 July 2015, Aubameyang signed a new contract with Dortmund until 2020. He said he wanted to stay with the club. On 20 August, he scored two goals in a Europa League match. By 23 September, he became the first player in Bundesliga history to score in his team's first six games of a season. He extended this record to eight games.
On 22 October, Aubameyang scored a hat-trick in a UEFA Europa League game. Three days later, he scored another hat-trick against Augsburg. In November, he scored the winning goal in a big derby match against FC Schalke 04. By the middle of the Bundesliga season, he was the top scorer with 18 goals.
On 30 January 2016, he scored his 19th and 20th league goals of the season. He reached 30 goals in all competitions in a cup win against VfB Stuttgart. Top Scorer and DFB-Pokal Win (2016–2017)
Aubameyang started the 2016–17 season well, scoring two goals in his first game. He also scored twice against VfL Wolfsburg. He wore the captain's armband for Dortmund for the first time on 22 October. He was briefly suspended for breaking club rules by traveling to Milan. When he returned, he scored four goals in a 5–2 victory against Hamburger SV.
On 19 November, Aubameyang scored the only goal in a 1–0 win over Bayern Munich. This was Dortmund's first league win against Bayern since 2014. On 7 December, he scored against Real Madrid in the Champions League. On 16 December, he scored his 100th goal for Borussia Dortmund.
On 4 March 2017, Aubameyang scored two goals, reaching over 20 Bundesliga goals for the second season in a row. Four days later, he scored a hat-trick against Benfica in the Champions League. On 20 May, he scored twice in the final league game, becoming the Bundesliga's top scorer with 31 goals. In the DFB-Pokal final on 27 May 2017, he scored the winning penalty as Dortmund beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2–1.
Moving to Arsenal
On 31 January 2018, Aubameyang joined Premier League club Arsenal. This was a club-record fee at the time.
First Season and Golden Boot (2018–2019)
On 3 February, Aubameyang played his first game for Arsenal against Everton. He scored Arsenal's fourth goal in a 5–1 win. He scored his first away goal for Arsenal against Brighton. He also assisted a goal and scored one in a 3–0 win over Watford.
Aubameyang scored twice in a 3–0 win against Stoke City. This made him the first player to score five goals in his first six games for Arsenal. He scored twice in manager Arsène Wenger's last home game for the club. He ended the season with ten goals and four assists in thirteen Premier League games.
He scored his first goal of the next season in a 3–2 win over Cardiff City in September 2018. This was his 150th goal in league football. He scored two goals in his European debut for Arsenal against Vorskla Poltava. By October 2018, he had scored 16 goals in the Premier League for Arsenal. He had the best minutes-per-goal ratio in Premier League history for players with at least 10 goals.
Aubameyang was the first player to reach 10 goals in the Premier League that season. He scored two goals in Arsenal's 4–2 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby. He scored his first Arsenal hat-trick in a 4–2 win over Valencia in May 2019. This helped Arsenal reach the Europa League final.
He finished the season with 22 goals, sharing the Premier League Golden Boot title with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané. Arsenal lost 4–1 to Chelsea in the Europa League final, missing out on Champions League qualification.
FA Cup Win and Departure (2019–2022)

On 11 August 2019, Aubameyang scored Arsenal's first goal of the season against Newcastle United. He scored his first home goal of the season against Burnley. He scored his first European goal of the season against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
His five goals in September earned him the Premier League Player of the Month award. On 5 November 2019, Aubameyang became the new Arsenal captain. He scored both goals in Arsenal's 2–2 draw with Norwich City in December.
On 11 January 2020, Aubameyang scored in a 1–1 draw with Crystal Palace. He was later sent off for a challenge, missing Arsenal's next three matches. On 27 February, he scored a scissor kick goal in the Europa League against Olympiacos. However, Arsenal were eliminated from the competition.
After the league restarted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Aubameyang scored two goals against Norwich City on 1 July. His first goal was his 50th in the league for Arsenal. He reached this milestone in just 79 games, faster than Thierry Henry. He finished the season with 22 league goals.
On 18 July, Aubameyang scored both goals in Arsenal's 2–0 FA Cup semi-final win against Manchester City. On 1 August, he scored a penalty and the winning goal in the final. Arsenal beat Chelsea 2–1, and Aubameyang lifted his first trophy with the club as captain.
On 29 August 2020, Aubameyang scored in normal time and the winning penalty in a shoot-out against Liverpool in the Community Shield. Playing for Barcelona
On 2 February 2022, Aubameyang joined Barcelona. He signed a contract until June 2025. He made his debut for Barcelona on 6 February 2022. On 20 February, he scored his first three goals for Barcelona in a 4–1 win over Valencia. On 20 March, Aubameyang scored two goals and assisted another in his only El Clásico match. Barcelona won 4–0 against Real Madrid.
On 14 May 2023, Barcelona won the 2022–23 La Liga title. Aubameyang played a small part in this, earning his first league title, even though he had joined Chelsea in 2022.
Time at Chelsea
On 2 September 2022, Chelsea signed Aubameyang on a two-year contract. Barcelona confirmed the fee was €12 million. Aubameyang made his Chelsea debut on 6 September in a Champions League game. On 1 October, he scored his first league goal for Chelsea against Crystal Palace.
He scored two goals against his former club AC Milan in the Champions League group stage. However, he was later removed from Chelsea's Champions League squad for the knockout stages.
Joining Marseille
On 21 July 2023, Aubameyang left Chelsea and signed a three-year deal with Marseille. He made his debut on 12 August. Three days later, he scored two goals against Panathinaikos in a Champions League qualifying match.
In December 2023, Aubameyang scored four goals and made four assists. This helped Marseille go five games without a loss. He won the Ligue 1 Player of the Month award for December. On 22 February, Aubameyang became the top goal scorer in the history of the UEFA Europa League with 31 goals. He scored against Shakhtar Donetsk to break the record.
Current Club: Al-Qadsiah
On 18 July 2024, Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah confirmed they had signed Aubameyang. He joined on a two-year contract.
International Career

Aubameyang was invited to play for Italy's U19 team. However, he played for the France under-21 team in February 2009. He could also have played for Spain because he has Spanish nationality. He chose to play for Gabon because his father was once the team's captain.
On 25 March 2009, Aubameyang played his first game for the Gabon national team. He scored his first goal in a 2–1 win over Morocco. He then scored in friendly matches against Benin, Togo, Algeria, and Senegal.
Aubameyang was an important player for Gabon in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. Gabon reached the quarter-finals, and Aubameyang scored three goals. In July 2012, he played for Gabon at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He scored Gabon's first-ever Olympic goal against Switzerland.
On 15 June 2013, Aubameyang scored three penalty kicks in Gabon's 4–1 win over Niger. He also scored two goals against Burkina Faso in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Qualification.
Aubameyang was the captain for Gabon at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. He scored the team's first goal of the tournament. On 25 March 2021, Aubameyang captained Gabon to a 3–0 win over DR Congo. He scored the third goal, helping Gabon qualify for the African Cup of Nations. Around this time, he had malaria and needed hospital care.
Aubameyang tested positive for COVID-19 before Gabon's first game in the African Cup of Nations. He later left the tournament for medical checks in England after being diagnosed with heart issues.
On 18 May 2022, Aubameyang announced he was retiring from international football. He had played 72 games for Gabon and scored 30 goals. However, a year later, he changed his mind and returned to the national team. He said this decision came after meeting with President Ali Bongo Ondimba.
Personal Life
Aubameyang was born in Laval, France. His father, Pierre Aubameyang, was also a Gabonese international footballer. His older half-brothers, Catilina and Willy, also played football. His mother is Spanish.
He is married to Alysha Behague, and they have two sons, Curtys and Pierre. In August 2022, Aubameyang suffered a jaw injury during an incident at his home in Barcelona.
He can speak several languages, including French, English, Spanish, Italian, and German.
