Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. (often called MSI) is a big tech company from Taiwan. It is based in New Taipei City. MSI creates and sells many computer parts and related items. These include laptops, desktop computers, and motherboards. They also make graphics cards, all-in-one PCs, and computer accessories.
The company is listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. It was started on August 4, 1986. Five friends, Joseph Hsu, Jeans Huang, Frank Lin, Kenny Yu, and Henry Lu, founded it. MSI first began in New Taipei City, Taiwan. Later, it grew into China. It opened a factory in Shenzhen in 2000. Research and development centers were set up in Kunshan in 2001. MSI offers global warranty service. This service is available in North America, South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
How MSI Works

At first, MSI made its products in Taiwan. But over time, manufacturing moved to other places. For example, many MSI graphics cards are now made at their factory in mainland China.

MSI Products
MSI first became known for making computer motherboards and graphics cards. In 2008, they started a new company called FUNTORO. This company focuses on entertainment systems for vehicles. MSI now offers many computer and tech products. These include laptops, desktops, and monitors. They also make motherboards, graphics cards, and power supplies. MSI creates computer cases and liquid coolers for gamers. They also have products for people who create digital content. Other items include all-in-one PCs, mobile workstations, and servers.
When MSI started in 1986, they focused on motherboards and add-on cards. That same year, they made the first motherboard that could be "over-clocked." This meant it could run faster than its normal speed.
Over the years, MSI continued to innovate. In 1989, they released their first 486 motherboard. In 1997, they introduced their first graphics card. In 2004, MSI launched its first laptop. In 2009, they released their first super-slim laptop and their first all-in-one PC.
MSI also makes products for gamers. In 2008, MSI sponsored the eSports team Fnatic. This marked their entry into the PC gaming market. MSI's Story
The five founders of MSI, Joseph Hsu, Jeans Huang, Frank Lin, Kenny Yu, and Henry Lu, all worked for Sony before starting MSI. They came together after Sony reduced its workforce in 1985. With their engineering skills from Sony, they created Micro Star International in August 1986.
In 1997, MSI opened its first factory in Zhonghe. In 2000, they opened another factory there. That same year, MSI Computer (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. was started in China. In 2001, MSI Electronics (Kunshan) Co., Ltd. was founded. In 2002, MSI set up a logistics center in the Netherlands for Europe. The company became public in 1998. This means its shares could be bought and sold on the Taipei Stock Exchange.
In 2003, MSI released the "Mega PC." This was a unique product. It was a mix of a shelf stereo and a computer. It looked like a stereo from the front but had computer connections at the back.
In 2017, MSI made a deal with Mustek to distribute its laptops. In April of that year, MSI announced partners for its RGB lighting system, Mystic Light Sync. Companies like Corsair, SteelSeries, and G.Skill joined this system.
Also in April 2017, MSI started a program called "Join the Dragon." This program helps find talented eSports teams. MSI has partnered with ESL for their ESL One events. They were an official partner for ESL One Cologne 2018. This is one of the biggest events for the game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. MSI also sponsored the Method eSports team in 2018. MSI and ESL worked together to bring the MGA 2018 grand finals to New York. A team from Kazakhstan, AVANGAR, won that championship.
In 2019, MSI and Ubisoft worked together. They created Ambient Link. This feature synchronizes game lighting with games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
In September 2020, MSI launched new laptops for business use. These were part of their "Modern," "Prestige," and "Summit" lines. They also introduced a new logo just for these models.
Over the years, MSI has won many awards. In 2008, it was ranked among the Top 20 Taiwan Global Brands. In 2011, it was named one of the Top 100 Taiwan Brands. In 2015, Laptop magazine ranked MSI as the fourth-best laptop brand. In 2016, MSI was the biggest supplier of gaming laptops worldwide. MSI has also received the Taiwan Excellence award for 15 years in a row. In August 2018, Laptop Mag rated MSI as the Best Gaming Laptop Brand of 2018.

MSI has partnered with many eSports teams. These include Fnatic and Cloud 9.
They have also sponsored other eSports teams globally. Some of these teams are METHOD, PENTA Sports, Energy eSports, and HWA Gaming.
In February 2022, MSI announced a partnership with Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP. MSI provides PC hardware to support the team during the MotoGP season.
