Michael Elliot Epps (born November 18, 1970) is a famous American stand-up comedian and actor. He is known for playing Day-Day Jones in the movies Next Friday and Friday After Next. He also appeared as "Black Doug" in The ... and The ... Part III.
Mike Epps was the voice of Boog in Open Season 2. He also played Lloyd Jefferson "L.J." Wayne in the action films Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004) and Resident Evil: Extinction (2007). You might also know him from the TV shows Uncle Buck and The Upshaws.

Early Life and Start
Epps was born and grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. His parents are Mary Reed and Tommie Epps.
In 1994, Mike moved to Brooklyn. There, he started performing on Def Comedy Jam. This was a big step in his comedy career.
Mike Epps' Career
Stand-up Comedy
Mike Epps officially started his comedy career in 1995. He joined the Def Comedy Jam tour. He also appeared on two of HBO's Def Comedy Jam TV shows.
In 2010, Epps released his own stand-up comedy special. It was called Under Rated & Never Faded. He has released several other specials since then.
Acting Roles
Epps first appeared in a movie in 1997. It was called Strays, directed by Vin Diesel.
In 1999, he got a big role with Ice Cube. He played Day-Day Jones in the movie Next Friday. Ice Cube saw Epps perform stand-up and asked him to try out for the part.
Later that year, Epps had a small role in 3 Strikes. He also acted with Jamie Foxx in the movie Bait.
Epps worked with Ice Cube again in 2002. He played a funny thief in All About the Benjamins. They also reunited for Friday After Next, the second sequel to Friday.
He played Lloyd Jefferson "L.J." Wayne in the films Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004) and Resident Evil: Extinction (2007). Epps also voiced the bear character Boog in the 2008 film Open Season 2. He had worked with Martin Lawrence before in Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins (2008). In that movie, he played Reggie, Roscoe's cousin.
Mike Epps also played "Black Doug" in The ... and The ... Part III. His acting was well-liked by critics and audiences.
In 2016, Epps played Richard Pryor in the movie Nina. He also played Pryor in an episode of the HBO show Winning Time, which is about the L.A. Lakers.
Epps had a main role in the 2016 comedy horror film Meet the Blacks. He also starred in its 2021 sequel, The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2. From 2016, he was the main character in the TV show Uncle Buck. Since 2021, he has been a main actor on the Netflix comedy show The Upshaws.
Music Projects
Mike Epps has been involved in music too. He "hosted" an album by Jim Jones and Skull Gang. It was called Jim Jones & Skull Gang Present A Tribute To Bad Santa Starring Mike Epps.
He also made a song called "Trying to Be a Gangsta" with Pooh Bear. Epps hosted G Unit's 2008 mixtape Elephant In The Sand. He even had a song called "Big Girls" that came out in 2008. This song is on his album, Funny Bidness: Da Album, released in 2009.
Parts of his stand-up comedy have been used in songs. For example, a sample from Under Rated & Never Faded was used in "I'm On Everything" by Bad Meets Evil. It was also used in "Runaway" from J. Cole's album Born Sinner.
Epps has appeared in many music videos. Most of these are for hip hop artists. Some include "Gangsta Nation" (2003) by Westside Connection and "Bank Account" (2017) by 21 Savage.
Super Bowl Ambassador
In 2012, Epps was the "Super Bowl ambassador" for his hometown of Indianapolis. This was for Super Bowl XLVI. He appeared in commercials to promote the Super Bowl Village. He also made special appearances there during the week of the event.
Personal Life
Mike Epps married Kyra Robinson in June 2019. She is an executive at OWN Network and a producer for Iyanla: Fix My Life.
Before that, he was married to Mechelle McCain. They got married in July 2006 and lived in Beverly Hills, California. They divorced in September 2017.
