Mirinda is a popular brand of fizzy drink. It was first made in Spain in 1959. Since 1970, PepsiCo has sold it all over the world. The name "Mirinda" comes from the Esperanto language. It means "admirable" or "amazing."
This drink comes in many fruit flavors, like orange, apple, and strawberry. It is known as a "flavor segment" drink. This means it's a fizzy or non-fizzy drink with fruit flavors. The orange flavor of Mirinda is now the most popular. This happened after the brand focused more on orange in the early 1990s.
The American company PepsiCo bought Mirinda in 1970. They mostly sell it outside the United States. Mirinda competes with other popular drinks like Coca-Cola's Fanta and Dr Pepper Snapple Group's Crush. Mirinda is made in different ways for different countries. This includes changes to its flavor, fizziness, and how sweet it is.

Advertising and Special Editions
From 1975 to 1978, Jim Henson (who created The Muppets) made "Mirinda Craver" ads. These ads featured a monster called the Mirinda Craver. This monster really wanted Mirinda drinks and would do anything to get one!
Between 1994 and 1996, a campaign used the slogan "The Taste is in Mirinda." This campaign featured the Blue Man Group. In some countries, like Mexico, this campaign helped Mirinda focus only on its orange flavor.
Pepsi's advertising companies, like BBDO and J. Walter Thompson, have handled Mirinda's ads.
Mirinda often releases special drinks in Asia that are themed after movies. For example, there have been Batman (blueberry) and Superman (fruit punch) themed drinks. Mirinda also recently released new "Mirinda Creme" flavors. These include mango, raspberry, and lime.
Mirinda was sold in Australia for a short time in the 1990s. Back then, KFC restaurants in Australia started selling Pepsi drinks instead of Coca-Cola. They sold Mirinda Orange and Mirinda Lemon. Later, they switched to Sunkist and Solo. This happened when the company that bottled Pepsi in Australia got the rights to other drink brands. In the 2010s and 2020s, you could find Mirinda syrups at Big W stores.
Mirinda is no longer sold in New Zealand. It was replaced by PepsiCo's new Mountain Dew drinks. These Mountain Dew drinks have similar flavors, like Code Red and Passionfruit Frenzy.
