One Hour in Wonderland was a special TV show created by Walt Disney Productions. It first aired on Christmas Day, 1950, on the NBC network. This show was a big deal because it was Walt Disney's very first TV production!
The special was made to promote Disney's upcoming movie, Alice in Wonderland. It featured Walt Disney himself as the host. Many famous people joined him, like Bobby Driscoll and Kathryn Beaumont. Kathryn, who voiced Alice in the movie, even dressed up as Alice for the TV show! The jazz band Firehouse Five Plus Two also performed.
You can find this special as a bonus feature on the DVD and Blu-ray versions of Alice in Wonderland.

The Story of the Special
The show begins with Edgar Bergen and his puppet friends, Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd. Edgar tells them that Walt Disney has invited them to a special tea party. Charlie isn't too excited at first. But he changes his mind when he hears that Kathryn Beaumont will be there!
On their way to the studio, Edgar tells Charlie the story of Alice in Wonderland. When they arrive, Walt Disney greets everyone. He shares that he managed to get the famous Magic Mirror from Snow White!
The Magic Mirror's Show
Charlie McCarthy jokes about the mirror, calling it a "hopped-up television set." This makes the Magic Mirror angry, but Walt calms it down. The Mirror then agrees to show everyone what they wish to see.
- Kathryn Beaumont wants to see a scene from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
- Charlie McCarthy wants to see himself, but the Mirror shows the Mickey Mouse cartoon Clock Cleaners instead.
- Bobby Driscoll gets to see a Br'er Rabbit story.
- Mortimer Snerd enjoys a short film featuring Pluto.
- Edgar Bergen asks to see Disney's animation studios.
At the animation studios, the cartoonists (played by the Firehouse Five Plus Two band) are having fun. They are playing "Jingle Bells" instead of working! But then they realize Walt is watching. They quickly finish drawing a scene with Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
A Sneak Peek at Alice
The Magic Mirror first doesn't want to show the unfinished Alice in Wonderland movie. But everyone really wants to see it, so the Mirror finally agrees. It shows a special scene from the movie.
At the end of the show, Edgar Bergen somehow ends up with the Magic Mirror. Charlie tries to make a deal with the mirror. But it turns out Mortimer Snerd is now the Mirror's new "slave"! Charlie gives up and decides to go to sleep.
