Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya (born October 8, 1931 – died November 10, 2023) was an important Indian politician. He served as the Governor of Nagaland from 2014 to 2019. He also held the position of Governor for other states like Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura for shorter periods. A Governor is like the head of a state in India, representing the President.

After college, he moved to Mumbai for work. There, he joined a student organization called Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He also became a member of the governing body (senate) of Mumbai University. He earned a law degree (LL.B) from Mumbai University. He helped create a special train program called Gyanodaya Express. These states included Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland. He also served as the national secretary of the BJP for these states from 1995 to 2002. Later, he was in charge of party activities in Kerala, Lakshadweep, and Tamil Nadu.

Acharya was also involved in a project called "My Home is India." This project, run by ABVP, invited tribal children from North East India to live with families in Mumbai for their education. Several students stayed at his own home for many years. He also helped publish booklets about tribal leaders and their culture.
