The Story of Peter Rabbit 2
The movie starts some time after the first film ended. Thomas McGregor and Bea get married. All their friends, both human and animal, are there to celebrate. Peter Rabbit has now accepted Thomas as part of his life.
A month after their honeymoon, Thomas helps Bea with her new storybook. Bea is writing about Peter and his friends. But Peter feels sad because the book makes him seem like a naughty troublemaker.
Bea gets a letter from a publishing company that wants to sell her book. So, Thomas and Bea take Peter, Benjamin, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail to meet the publisher, Nigel Basil-Jones. Nigel shows them his marketing plan. This plan makes Peter look even more like a troublemaker. There's even a billboard design for a possible movie that makes Peter look like a villain!
Peter is very upset and walks away from the group. He goes into town and meets an older rabbit named Barnabas. Barnabas says he was an old friend of Peter's late father. Soon, Peter and Barnabas are caught by animal catchers. They are taken to a pet pound. A kind girl named Amelia then takes them in.
Barnabas and Peter, with Barnabas's friends, sneak into Amelia's house. They take food from the family's fridge and bring it back to their hideout. Barnabas tells Peter that his father used to steal food for Peter and his sisters. Soon, Thomas and Bea find Peter and bring him home.
The next morning, Peter tells Benjamin about Barnabas. He convinces Benjamin and his sisters to meet Barnabas's group. Barnabas recognizes Peter's sisters and Benjamin. He then shares his big plan: they will rob the farmers market! Their main goal is to get many packs of dried fruit. The rabbits get help from their other animal friends to pull off this big heist.
Thomas and Bea meet Nigel again to look at new designs for the rabbits. Nigel wants to dress them in modern clothes and suggests even more ideas for the next book. Thomas starts to realize that Nigel's ideas are not good for Bea's original stories.
The animals arrive at the market and manage to get the dried fruits. But then, all of Peter's friends, including Benjamin and his sisters, are caught by the animal catchers. This happens when they sneak into a petting zoo. Barnabas then reveals his true plan. He wanted to keep all the dried fruit for himself! He explains that humans at the pound rejected him because he was old. So, he purposely met Peter in town after reading about him in Bea's book. He never even knew Peter's father.
Feeling very guilty, Peter leaves Barnabas. He asks Thomas to help him rescue his friends. Their truck gets stuck, so they go to Bea for help. Bea is in a meeting with Nigel, who wants to put Peter and his friends in a crazy space adventure. He also suggests a dangerous rescue mission to end the story. Bea realizes Nigel doesn't understand her characters. She decides to take her stories away from Nigel's company.
Bea, Thomas, and Peter then work together to rescue their friends. They go on exciting missions to find them. Peter, Benjamin, and the sisters go to Barnabas's hideout. They cleverly tie Barnabas and his group to ropes. When a nearby tailor shop owner drives away in his truck, Barnabas and his crew are pulled away. They end up being taken to the pound.
The rabbits return the dried fruit to the market sellers. They then join Thomas and Bea as they drive home. Peter decides he will listen more to the people who love him. Some time later, Thomas and Bea have a baby girl. Bea names her new book "Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway."
