A photographer is a person who takes pictures or photographs using a camera. They use their skills to capture moments, people, places, or objects.
There are two main types of photographers:
- An amateur photographer takes pictures for fun, as a hobby. They do it for themselves, their family, or friends.
- A professional photographer takes pictures as their job. People often hire them for special events like weddings or to create photos for businesses.

Different Kinds of Photographers

Many types of photographers exist, and each one needs a different set of skills. Here are some examples:
News Photographers
A news photographer takes pictures of events as they happen. They work quickly because things can change very fast. They are like the "eyes" for newspapers or websites, showing people what is going on. Their job is to take many photos so an editor can choose the best ones for a news story. They might also edit photos using special software and add short descriptions called captions. Many news photographers also record short videos.
Aerial Photographers
An aerial photographer takes pictures from high up, usually from an airplane. They need to be comfortable working around planes and skilled at taking photos from different altitudes. They use special cameras that can take infrared photos, three-dimensional photos, and pictures in black and white or color.
Still Life Photographers
A still life photographer takes pictures of objects that don't move. This could be for advertising, art, or science. Their subjects might include food, products, or items from nature. Still life photographers must know how to use lighting and different angles to make an object look great in a picture.
Fashion Photographers
A fashion photographer takes pictures of clothing, makeup, hair designs, and other similar products. They often photograph models. Besides fashion, they might also work in the music industry or for movies.
Combat Photographers
A combat photographer usually works for the military. They take documentary photos and videos for many purposes. They might help with reconnaissance (finding out information), training, or supporting public affairs by providing images for stories. Their duties can be very specialized depending on their branch of the military.
