The Province of Belluno is a special area in the Veneto region of Italy. Its main city, or capital, is Belluno. This province is famous for its amazing mountains and beautiful natural places.

Exploring the Geography of Belluno
The Province of Belluno covers about 3,672 square kilometers (1,418 square miles). It is the most northern province in the Veneto region. Almost all of this area is covered by mountains!
Majestic Mountains and Rivers
In the eastern part of the province, you'll find the Dolomites. These are tall mountains that are part of the eastern Alps. The highest point in the province, and in the entire Veneto region, is Marmolada. This mountain stands tall at 3,342 meters (10,965 feet) high.
The province also has lots of water, especially the wide Piave river. This river flows through the province from north to south.
The southern part of the province is known as Valbelluna. This is the biggest and most populated valley in the area.
Neighboring Regions and Countries
The Province of Belluno shares its borders with several other places:
- To the north, it borders Austria (specifically the regions of Tyrol and Carinthia).
- To the east, it borders the Friuli Venezia Giulia region of Italy, including the Udine and Pordenone provinces.
- To the south, it borders the Treviso and Vicenza provinces.
- To the west and northwest, it borders the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region of Italy, including the Trento and South Tyrol provinces.

Different Languages Spoken
In the Province of Belluno, there are two groups of people who speak different languages, and these groups are now officially recognized by law:
- Some people speak Ladin, which is a Romance language. You can find them in the three towns of Colle Santa Lucia, Livinallongo del Col di Lana, and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
- Others speak German. These communities live in the towns of Sappada, Farra d'Alpago, and Tambre.
