Samuel Nicoll Benjamin (born January 3, 1839 – died May 15, 1886) was a brave officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was honored with the Medal of Honor for his actions.
Early Life and Education
Samuel Nicoll Benjamin was born in New York City on January 3, 1839. His parents were William Massena Benjamin and Sarah Jane Benjamin.
He studied at the United States Military Academy in West Point. He graduated in 1861, just as the Civil War was beginning.
Military Career
During the American Civil War, Samuel Benjamin fought in many important battles. He was part of the Union Army, which fought to keep the United States together.
