Hurricane Harbor is a group of awesome water parks that are part of the Six Flags theme park family. Even though each park is a bit different, they all have cool things like body slides, super-fast speed slides, tube slides, big wave pools, relaxing lazy rivers, and places to shop for souvenirs.

Discovering Hurricane Harbor's Past

Six Flags started using the Hurricane Harbor name in 1995. The very first one opened right next to Six Flags Magic Mountain. In the same year, Six Flags bought a water park called Wet 'n Wild in Arlington, Texas. It was first called "Wet 'n Wild — A Six Flags Park" for a couple of years, then it changed its name to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in 1997. Since then, "Hurricane Harbor" has become a special name for Six Flags water parks.

In 1999, Six Flags St. Louis was the first Six Flags park to build its own water rides section right inside the theme park. As Six Flags bought more parks in the 2000s, some of the water parks already there were updated and renamed Hurricane Harbor.

Only one Hurricane Harbor park has ever closed. After Six Flags Worlds of Adventure was sold in 2004, its water park was renamed Hurricane Hannah's Waterpark. It closed in 2006, and many of its rides were moved to a new water park nearby.
