Table Mountain is a cool mountain located in Ulster County, New York. It's part of the amazing Catskill Mountains range. This mountain is special because it's one of the "Catskill High Peaks," which means it's super tall!
Table Mountain has other mountains nearby. To its south, you'll find Peekamoose Mountain. To the northeast, there's Lone Mountain.
Where the Water Flows
Water from Table Mountain travels to different places. The water from the east side of the mountain flows into a stream called Rondout Creek. From there, it joins the Hudson River and eventually reaches New York Bay.
Water from the south side of Table Mountain goes into Bear Hole Brook, which also flows into Rondout Creek. The west side of the mountain sends its water into Tray Mill Brook. This brook then joins the East Branch of the Neversink River. The Neversink River flows into the Delaware River, and finally into Delaware Bay.
Water from the north side of Table Mountain drains into Donovan Brook. This brook also connects to the East Branch of the Neversink River. So, water from this one mountain can end up in two different large bays!
Hiking and Nature
Table Mountain is located inside the Slide Mountain Wilderness. This wilderness area is part of Catskill State Park in New York. It's a protected area where nature can thrive.
A famous hiking trail called the Long Path crosses over Table Mountain. This trail is super long, about 350 miles (563 km)! It stretches all the way from New York City to Albany. Hikers on the Long Path get to enjoy the beautiful views from the top of Table Mountain and Peekamoose Mountain.
