Tales from the Cryptkeeper is an animated TV show for kids. It's a horror series made by Nelvana in Canada. The show was first seen on YTV in Canada and ABC in the United States.

The series is based on old EC Comics from the 1950s called Tales from the Crypt. There was also a live-action TV show with the same name for adults. Tales from the Cryptkeeper was made much milder for children. It removed all blood and scary parts to be suitable for its younger audience.

Most of the stories in the show happen in a made-up city called Gravenhurst, California. The show ended on December 10, 1994. But in 1999, it came back as New Tales from the Cryptkeeper. The animation style changed a bit. This new version aired on Teletoon in Canada and CBS in the United States.

What the Show is About

The series features the Cryptkeeper, a spooky but friendly host. He tells different horror stories to the viewers. Each story has a lesson to learn, often about being kind or making good choices.

In the second season, the Cryptkeeper had rivals. These were the Vault-Keeper and the Old Witch. They kept trying to take over his show because they didn't have their own. But their plans usually didn't work out. During this season, the Cryptkeeper also traveled to different places to avoid his rivals.

Season 3, which aired in 1999, was the last season. It was called New Tales from the Cryptkeeper. This season was only shown on Teletoon in Canada and CBS in the United States.
