Taranna is a small, quiet place in Tasmania, Australia. It is located on the Tasman Peninsula. In 2016, about 156 people lived there.
Taranna is known for a few cool spots. You can find a historic church next to a chocolate factory. There is also a special park called "Unzoo" where you can see Tasmanian devils.
Taranna's Past
Taranna became an official place name in 1967. People think its name comes from an Aboriginal word. This word is believed to mean "wallaby."
A post office opened here in 1884. It was first called "Norfolk Bay Post Office." In 1887, its name changed to "Taranna." This post office closed in 1970.
Taranna was also an important first stop. It was on the old Convict tramway that led to Port Arthur.

The main road that goes through Taranna is called Arthur Highway. It runs from the north to the south of the area.
