The Big Arvo was a popular Australian TV show that aired on the Seven Network. It ran from 1999 to 2005. The show first started in the mornings and was called The Big Breakfast. Later, it moved to the afternoon and changed its name to The Big Arvo. This happened because other shows like AMV: All Music Video and Sunrise took its morning spot.
The show had four hosts who presented from inside a cool, big model bus. The Big Arvo was made for kids and teens. It featured fun parts like "cool job" and "dare" segments. It was a show for those who enjoyed Play School but were a bit older. The show even appeared in K-Zone magazine when it reached 500 episodes!
Meet the Hosts
The show had a team of hosts who kept things fun and exciting. Here's a look at who hosted The Big Arvo during its run:
Original Replacement
Role | Name | First Show | Last Show |
1st co-host | Ben Hewett | 2 August 1999 | 6 May 2005 |
2nd co-host | Jennifer Hardy | 2 August 1999 | 6 May 2005 |
3rd co-host | Anna Choy | 2 August 1999 | May 2004 |

4th co-host | Curtis Fernandez | 2 August 1999 | July 2000 |
Luke Jacobz | 1 February 2001 | March 2005 |
- There was a break of about seven months between Curtis Fernandez leaving and Luke Jacobz joining. This was because The Big Breakfast went off air before it came back as The Big Arvo.
- Another break of five months happened between Anna Choy leaving and James Tobin starting. During this time, the show Girl TV aired instead of The Big Arvo.
- James Tobin was known as "Jesse Tobin" in all the episodes he hosted.
- Ben Hewett and Jennifer Hardy were the only two hosts who stayed with the show from its very beginning to its very end.
