The New Woody Woodpecker Show is a fun American cartoon series. It's based on the classic animated short films created by Walter Lantz. This show was made by Bob Jaques and Kelly Armstrong.
It was produced by Universal Cartoon Studios. The show first aired on May 8, 1999, and ran until July 27, 2002. You could watch it on Fox's Fox Kids in the United States.
This series was a fresh take on The Woody Woodpecker Show. It brought back many original characters and introduced some new ones. Each episode was about 24 minutes long. It usually had three shorter stories or "segments." Most episodes featured two stories with Woody Woodpecker. One segment usually starred Chilly Willy. Sometimes, Winnie Woodpecker, Knothead, and Splinter also had their own stories. In total, 53 episodes were made, which included 157 different segments.

Meet the Characters
Woody Woodpecker and Friends
- Woody Woodpecker (Billy West) - Woody is a playful pileated woodpecker. He lives in a treehouse that looks over an apartment building in a big city. Woody is a bit lazy and always looking for easy ways to get by. He often annoys his rivals, but he doesn't give up easily! Woody is proud of his Scottish family background.
- Winnie Woodpecker (B. J. Ward) - Winnie is a female woodpecker and Woody's best friend. She often goes on her own adventures. Winnie is usually more polite and calm than Woody.
- Knothead (Elizabeth Daily) and Splinter (Nika Futterman) - These are Woody and Winnie's niece and nephew. They are young woodpeckers who love to give their uncle (and everyone else) a hard time!
- Buzz Buzzard (Mark Hamill) - Buzz is a sneaky common buzzard. He is the main bad guy in the show. He's always trying to trick Woody and Winnie, but the woodpeckers usually outsmart him.
- Wally Walrus (Billy West) - Wally is a Swedish walrus who lives in the apartment building near Woody's treehouse. He's Woody's neighbor and often gets into fights with him. Wally isn't as mean as other characters, but Woody often causes trouble for him. Even though they are rivals, Woody and Wally sometimes work together.
- Miss Meany (Andrea Martin) - Miss Meany is Woody's grumpy landlady. She owns the apartment building where Wally lives. She is often more angry than Wally. Miss Meany works hard and takes her job very seriously.
- Tweakey Da Lackey (Mark Hamill) - Tweakey is a small domestic canary. He usually works for Buzz as his helper, but he often doesn't want to.
Chilly Willy and His Pals
- Chilly Willy (mute) - Chilly is a quiet penguin who lives in Antarctica. His adventures usually happen because he's trying to find food or stay warm. Even though he looks innocent, Chilly can be quite a troublemaker!
- Smedley (Billy West) - Smedley is a hound dog. He often has problems with Chilly. He's usually shown as someone in charge rather than a bad guy. Smedley is very easygoing, but Chilly always tests his patience.
- Chilly Lilly (mute) - Chilly Lilly is a female penguin and Chilly Willy's girlfriend. She appears in the episode Chilly Lilly.
- Maxie The Polar Bear (Rob Paulsen) - Maxie is a smart polar bear and one of Chilly's friends. He shows up in a few of Chilly's stories.
- Sgt. Hogwash (Blake Clark) - Sgt. Hogwash is a pig who works as a military officer at a government base in Antarctica. Chilly's tricks often cause problems for him.
- Major Bull (Kevin Michael Richardson) - Major Bull is a bull who is Sgt. Hogwash's boss.
