Todd English's Restaurants

Todd English is famous for opening many different kinds of restaurants. Each one offers a unique dining experience.

Olives Restaurants

Olives was Todd English's very first restaurant. It opened in the Charlestown area of Boston in April 1989. The name "Olives" was a special tribute to his former wife, Olivia.

The food at Olives is inspired by "rustic Mediterranean" cooking, with a strong influence from Italian cuisine. The restaurant quickly became popular. Boston magazine named it the Best New Restaurant. Gourmet magazine also praised it for its amazing food.

Olives became well-known for two special desserts: a warm molten chocolate cake and a light vanilla bean soufflé. You had to order these desserts when you ordered your main meal!

Over the years, Olives opened in many different places:

  • In October 1998, Olives opened in the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas, but it closed in 2019.
  • In May 2010, the Charlestown Olives had to close because of a fire. This was not the first time it had fire damage.
