FC Liefering is an Austrian football club. It started in a place called Liefering, which is part of Salzburg. The team currently plays in the Second League. This is the second-highest football league in Austria.

Since 2012, FC Liefering has been a special kind of team. It works as a reserve team for Red Bull Salzburg. Red Bull Salzburg is a top team in the Austrian Football Bundesliga. This means Liefering helps young players get ready for the main Red Bull Salzburg team.

In 2011, Red Bull Salzburg started working with other clubs. These included FC Pasching and USK Anif. Coaches and players moved between these teams. This helped develop new talent. FC Liefering is known for helping young players grow. Many players from Liefering were part of the Red Bull Salzburg team. This team won the UEFA Youth League in 2016–17.

FC Liefering's Journey

The club you know as FC Liefering used to be called USK Anif. In the 2012–13 season, they changed their name. They also started using jerseys and team colors similar to Red Bull Salzburg. Because of this, some people call them "Red Bull Liefering."

In that 2012–13 season, they won their league, the Regionalliga West. After winning two special playoff matches, they moved up to the Austrian Football Second League. This was a big step for the club.

FC Liefering is like a "farm team" for Red Bull Salzburg. This means they cannot move up to the top league themselves. Their main goal is to train young players. In their first year in the Second League, they finished third. The next year, in 2014–15, they finished second.

Many young and talented players join FC Liefering. Some come from other countries, like Ghana. Others come from the Red Bull Football Academy. This academy helps young players become professional footballers. Players like Hannes Wolf and Luca Meisl played for Liefering.

In the 2016–17 season, the Red Bull Salzburg Under-19 team won the UEFA Youth League. Most of the players on that winning team came from FC Liefering. This shows how important Liefering is for developing future stars.

Coaches also move between Liefering and Red Bull Salzburg. For example, Bo Svensson coached Liefering in 2020–21. He later moved to coach Mainz 05. Then, Matthias Jaissle became Liefering's coach. He later became the head coach of Red Bull Salzburg. The 2020–21 season was very successful for Liefering. They finished second in the league, just behind the champions.
