The Victoria Award (Victoriapriset in Swedish) is a special prize given every year. It used to be called the Victoria Scholarship. This award celebrates a top Swedish athlete or sometimes a pair of athletes. It's like a big "thank you" for their amazing achievements in sports!
This award has been given out since 1979. The ceremony always takes place on the island of Öland in Sweden. It happens on July 14th, which is the birthday of Crown Princess Victoria. She is the person who presents the award to the winners.
Who Receives the Victoria Award?
Each year, a Swedish athlete who has done something truly great in their sport is chosen. Sometimes, it's even given to two athletes who work together, like a team.
