Washington Township is a small community in Burlington County, New Jersey. It is called a township. In 2020, about 693 people lived here. This was a small increase from 2010.
The township was officially created on November 19, 1802. It was formed from parts of other townships. Washington Township is named after George Washington, the first president of the United States. There are actually five places in New Jersey named "Washington Township."

Neighboring Towns and Rivers
The township shares borders with several other places. In Burlington County, it borders Bass River Township, Shamong Township, Tabernacle Township, and Woodland Township. It also borders towns in Atlantic County, like Egg Harbor City and Hammonton.
The Mullica River forms part of its border with Atlantic County. The Wading and Oswego Rivers are on its eastern side.

Younger students go to Mullica Township Elementary School. This school teaches students from Pre-K to 4th grade. Older students attend Mullica Township Middle School, which serves grades 5 to 8.
High School Education
For high school, students in grades 9 through 12 go to Cedar Creek High School. This school is located in Egg Harbor City. It opened in September 2010.
Cedar Creek High School is part of the Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District. This district serves several towns. Before Cedar Creek High opened, students from Washington Township went to Oakcrest High School.
Vocational and Technical Training
Students from Washington Township can also attend the Burlington County Institute of Technology. This is a county-wide school. It offers vocational and technical education. Students can learn job skills at campuses in Medford and Westampton.
