Windham is a small town located in Windham County, Vermont, in the United States. In 2020, about 449 people lived there. The main part of the town is known as the Windham Village Historic District.

History of Windham
Windham was once part of a larger town called Londonderry. This was true until after 1792. The town of Windham was officially set up in 1796.
Early Settlers in Windham
The first person to settle in what became Windham village was Benjamin Pierce. He arrived around 1783. Benjamin Pierce came from Westmoreland, New Hampshire.
Windham During the Civil War
Windham was a small mountain village. Because of its size, not many men from Windham joined the Union Army. This was during the American Civil War. However, Windham County sent many soldiers to the war. Most of the young men from Windham joined Company C or K. These companies were part of the 4th Vermont Infantry regiment. This regiment fought in many tough battles during the war.
One soldier from Windham became very famous. Captain Charles G. Gould was in Company H of the 5th Vermont Infantry. He received the Medal of Honor for being very brave in battle.
