Woodlynne is a small town, called a borough, in Camden County, New Jersey. It's a suburb located about 4 miles (6.4 km) southeast of Philadelphia.

Woodlynne became an official borough on March 19, 1901. This happened when the New Jersey Legislature approved it. It was formed from parts of Haddon Township. In 1906, the City of Camden tried to make Woodlynne part of its city, but it didn't work.

History of Woodlynne

Europeans first settled in this area in 1681. A property owned by Mark Newbie was called Lynnewood. It was named after the linden trees growing there. In 1892, the name was changed to Woodlynne. This was because its old name was too similar to another town.

From 1895 to 1914, the Woodlynne Amusement Park was open. It included a place called Woodlynne Lake, which is no longer there. The New Camden Land Improvement Company started the amusement park in 1892. Homes built where the old lake used to be sometimes have flooded basements during heavy rains.

The Camden and Suburban Railway Company started a housing development in the amusement park area in 1896. This helped Woodlynne become an official borough in 1901.
