The 1922 Detroit Stars baseball team was a fantastic team that played in the Negro National League. This was a special league for African American baseball players during a time when they were not allowed to play in Major League Baseball.
In the 1922 baseball season, the Stars had a great record of 58 wins, 32 losses, and 1 tie. They played their home games at Mack Park in Detroit. The team was owned by Tenny Blount, and their catcher, Bruce Petway, was also their manager.

Top Hitters
- Edgar Wesley (First Baseman): Edgar was from Texas and was the team's best hitter. He hit for a .349 batting average, which means he got a hit almost 35% of the time he tried. He also hit nine home runs and brought in 68 runs for the team.
- Clarence Smith (Left Fielder): Clarence was amazing at bringing in runs, leading the team with 73 RBIs (runs batted in). He also had a strong batting average of .345 and hit six home runs.
- Clint Thomas (Center Fielder): Known as "Hawk" or "The Black DiMaggio," Clint was a powerful player. He hit .321, had 10 triples, seven home runs, and brought in 67 runs. He was also fast, stealing 12 bases!
- Frank Warfield (Second Baseman): Frank was a solid hitter, with a .318 batting average. He played in 80 games, showing how important he was to the team.
- Isaac Lane (Third Baseman): Isaac hit .292 in 57 games. He was a key player at third base.

- Andy Cooper: Andy was a left-handed pitcher from Texas. He won 12 games and lost 5, with a good ERA (Earned Run Average) of 3.70. This means he didn't give up many earned runs per game. He was so good that he was later added to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006!
- Bill Holland: Bill was a right-handed pitcher who played for 23 seasons in the Negro leagues. In 1922, he won 13 games and lost 12. His ERA was an excellent 3.01, which was one of the best in the Negro National League that year.
- Bill Force: Bill was a left-handed pitcher from Georgia. He won 11 games and lost 6 for the Stars in 1922. He even pitched a no-hitter on June 27, 1922! A no-hitter is when a pitcher plays an entire game without letting the other team get any hits. He also helped with another no-hitter earlier in the season.
- Jack Marshall: Jack was a right-handed pitcher who won 6 games and lost 5 for the team. He appeared in 19 games, helping the Stars win many matches.
