The 2014 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A was a big football (soccer) competition in Brazil. It was the 58th time this top league was played. The team Cruzeiro won the championship. This was their second win in a row and their fourth title overall!
The league took a break during the middle of the season. This was because Brazil hosted the 2014 FIFA World Cup in June and July. After the break, Cruzeiro kept their strong lead. They won the title in round 36 after beating Goiás 2-1.
Not all teams had a good season. Criciúma was in the bottom part of the league for a long time. They were officially moved down to a lower league after a draw against Flamengo. Soon after, Botafogo was also moved down. In the very last game, Palmeiras managed to stay in the top league. This happened even though they only got a draw. Other teams like Vitória and Bahia were moved down instead.
