The Ararat River is a smaller river that flows into a bigger one called the Yadkin River. It's located in the states of Virginia and North Carolina in the United States. The water from the Ararat River eventually joins the Pee Dee River and flows all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. This means it's part of a large watershed, which is an area of land where all the water drains into the same river system.
Where Does the Ararat River Flow?
The Ararat River starts high up in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Patrick County, Virginia. From there, it flows south into Surry County, North Carolina. It passes through the city of Mount Airy. Finally, it joins the Yadkin River about 5 miles (8 km) northwest of East Bend.
