Arconciel was once a municipality in the Sarine district of Fribourg, Switzerland. On January 1, 2021, Arconciel joined with Ependes and Senèdes to create a new municipality called Bois-d'Amont.

History of Arconciel
Arconciel was first written about in 1082. Back then, it was called castrum Arconciacum. It also had a German name, Ergenzach, but this name is not used anymore.
Geography of Arconciel
Arconciel covered an area of about 6.2 square kilometers (2.4 square miles) in 2009. More than half of this land, about 57.2%, was used for farming. Forests covered about 30.5% of the area.
About 8.4% of the land had buildings or roads. This includes houses, other buildings, and transportation routes. A small part, 2.8%, was rivers or lakes. Very little land, just 0.2%, was not used for anything. Most of the water in the municipality was flowing water, like streams.
Arconciel's Coat of Arms
The coat of arms for Arconciel shows a blue shield with a silver tower on it. The tower has battlements, which are the parts that look like teeth on top of old castles.
People and Population
In 2019, Arconciel had a population of 1,038 people. Over ten years, from 2000 to 2010, the number of people living there grew by 16.9%. This growth happened because more people moved in than moved out, and more babies were born than people died.
Most people in Arconciel speak French. In 2000, about 91% of the population spoke French as their main language. The next most common language was German, spoken by about 6.3% of the people. A small number of people also spoke Spanish or Italian.
In 2008, a little more than half of the population (52.2%) were boys and men, and 47.8% were girls and women. About 33.8% of the people living in Arconciel in 2000 were born there. Many others were born in the same canton (Fribourg) or elsewhere in Switzerland. About 7.8% were born outside Switzerland.
In 2000, about 31.4% of the population were children and teenagers (0–19 years old). Adults (20–64 years old) made up 58.8%, and seniors (over 64 years old) were 9.8%.
Most households in Arconciel had about 2.9 people on average. In 2000, most apartments were lived in all the time.

Important Heritage Sites
Arconciel has some very old and important places. These are listed as heritage sites of national significance in Switzerland. They include:
- A farm house at La Souche 1.
- A mesolithic shelter at La Souche, which is a very old place where people lived.
- A medieval village at Vers-le-Château, from the Middle Ages.

Education in Arconciel
In Arconciel, many people have completed higher education. In 2000, about 31.4% of adults had finished upper secondary education. About 15.5% had gone on to university or a similar higher school.
The school system in Fribourg canton works like this:
- Children start with one year of non-required Kindergarten.
- Then they go to six years of Primary school.
- After that, there are three years of lower Secondary school. Students are grouped by their abilities.
- Students can then choose to go to an optional upper Secondary school for three or four years. This can be a gymnasium (which prepares them for university) or a vocational program (which teaches job skills).
- After upper Secondary, students can go to a Tertiary school or continue learning a trade.
In the 2010–11 school year, Arconciel had 88 students in 5 classes. There was one kindergarten class and four primary classes. Students for lower secondary, upper secondary, and higher education usually went to schools in nearby towns.
