The Asian Wushu Championships is a big sports event for wushu athletes in Asia. Wushu is a cool Chinese martial art, like a mix of gymnastics and fighting. This championship is organized by the Wushu Federation of Asia (WFA). The WFA is the main group for wushu in Asia.
Teams from 37 different countries in Asia can join this competition. Unlike some other wushu events that happen every two years, the Asian Wushu Championships takes place every four years. This is because wushu is also a sport in the Asian Games, which is another huge event.
The WFA also organizes other exciting wushu competitions. These include the Asian Junior Wushu Championships for younger athletes, the Asian Kungfu Championships, and the Asian Sanda Cup.

History of the Championships
How the Asian Wushu Championships Started
In 1985, people started planning for a big international wushu group called the IWUF. Then, in 1987, a group was formed to create the Wushu Federation of Asia (WFA). China's Wushu Association helped a lot with this.
Later in 1987, the very first Asian Wushu Championships happened in Yokohama, Japan. Ten, and then twelve, countries signed up to compete. More than 90 athletes showed off their skills in 16 different events at this first championship.
