Austerlitz is a 1960 French film directed by Abel Gance. It tells the story of Napoleon Bonaparte and his famous victory at the Battle of Austerlitz. The film stars Pierre Mondy as Napoleon. Interesting Facts
The composer of the film's music, Jean Ledrut, claimed that his song "La Marche d'Austerlitz" was copied. He believed parts of it were used in the 1962 pop song "Telstar". Austerlitz was not released in the UK until 1965. The person accused of copying, Joe Meek, said he didn't know about the film when the claim was made in 1963.
Different Film Versions
The original French version of Austerlitz is longer than the English version. The English version was dubbed for international audiences. The French version includes extra scenes. For example, it shows Jean-Louis Trintignant's character imagining the coronation for the palace staff.
DVD Release
A DVD of the French version of the film was released. It includes interviews with the star, Pierre Mondy, and other people who worked on the movie.
