Mantua Township (pronounced man-CHEW-uh) is a community located in Gloucester County, New Jersey. It's part of the larger Philadelphia metropolitan area. In 2020, the township had a population of 15,235 people. This was the highest number of residents ever recorded for Mantua Township.

History of Mantua Township
Mantua Township was officially created on February 23, 1853. It was formed from parts of another area called Greenwich Township. Later, some of its land was used to create East Greenwich Township in 1881 and Pitman in 1905.
The township's name comes from either Mantua, a city in Italy, or from a group of Lenape Native Americans who lived in the area.

Mantua Township covers about 16.09 square miles (41.67 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.

Parks and Recreation
Tall Pines State Preserve
Tall Pines State Preserve is a beautiful nature area that opened in 2015. It covers 111 acres and is Gloucester County's first state park. This land was once a forest, then a farm field, and later a golf course. It was saved and turned into a preserve thanks to the efforts of several local groups.
