Cerniat (pronounced like "sair-nee-ah") was once a small municipality in the Gruyère district. This area is part of the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.
On January 1, 2014, Cerniat joined with the nearby municipality of Charmey. Together, they formed a new municipality called Val-de-Charmey.
