Colombier was once a small town, or municipality, in Switzerland. It was located in the canton of Vaud, which is like a state or province in Switzerland. Colombier was part of the Morges district.
On July 1, 2011, Colombier joined with two other towns, Monnaz and Saint-Saphorin-sur-Morges. They all became part of a new, larger municipality called Echichens.

History of Colombier
Colombier is a very old place. It was first written about in the year 937.
A famous queen named Bertha of Swabia lived around 907 to 966. She was the Queen of Burgundy. On December 12, 937, Queen Bertha got married in the church of Colombier. You can still see pictures of these events on the church's stained glass windows today. She also lived in the castle of Colombier.
Geography of Colombier
In 2009, Colombier covered an area of about 5.3 square kilometers (2.0 square miles). Most of this land, about 82.5%, was used for farming. This means people grew crops or raised animals there.
About 9.7% of the land was covered by forests. The rest of the land, about 6.8%, had buildings or roads on it. A very small part, less than 1%, was unproductive land, like rocky areas.
Colombier used to be part of the old Morges District. But in 2006, that district was changed. Colombier then became part of the new Morges district.
