Comberton is a village in Cambridgeshire, England. It's located in an area called South Cambridgeshire. The village is just east of the Prime Meridian, an imaginary line that divides the Earth into eastern and western halves.

History of Comberton

People have lived in the Comberton area for thousands of years! Scientists have found old tools from the Neolithic period (the New Stone Age). They also found a Bronze Age barrow, which is a type of ancient burial mound. In 1842, the remains of a Roman villa were discovered too.

The village itself was first written about in the Domesday Book in 1086. This was a big survey ordered by William the Conqueror. Back then, Comberton was called Cumbertone. This means the village has been around for at least 900 years!

Some of the houses in Comberton are very old, dating back to the 1300s. A part of the village called Green End was named after Sir Henry Green, an important judge from the 1300s. The current Manor House at Green End was built in the late 1500s.
