About Darius Scott's Music Journey
Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Darius Scott's father was a pastor, and Darius learned to play all 11 instruments at their church in Atlanta. He wanted to be ready to play if needed. By the age of five, he started singing. He impressed his parents with his singing of a song by Fred Hammond.
Scott later attended The College of Wooster in Ohio. He received a special scholarship called the Posse Foundation scholarship. While at college, he was part of several music groups. These included the Wooster Chorus and the Wooster Jazz Ensemble. He also led his own band, Freddie Cool.
During his studies, Scott had internships at MTV and The National Conference of Black Mayors. He also helped start the streetwear brand Kith. In 2011, he studied in Paris, focusing on French business and fashion. He graduated in 2013 with a degree in arts and media management. After college, he moved to Texas to work for Neiman Marcus.
Becoming Famous on The Voice (2014–2015)
In November 2014, Scott released his first Christian/Gospel music project called Masterpiece. He produced this album himself. He described it as a young man's spiritual journey.
