Darius Scott, also known as DIXSON, is a talented American singer, songwriter, and producer. He can also play many different instruments! He became well-known after appearing on the TV show The Voice in 2015.
DIXSON is also famous for helping to write and produce the song "Be Alive" with superstar Beyoncé. This song was nominated for an Oscar for the movie King Richard. He has also written songs for other popular artists like Chance the Rapper and Kehlani. Darius Scott studied at the College of Wooster.

Early Life and Learning Music
Darius Scott grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. His dad was a pastor, which is a church leader. Because of this, Darius spent a lot of time at church. He quickly learned to play all 11 instruments there! He wanted to be ready in case he ever needed to play during a service.
When he was just 5 years old, Darius started singing. He really impressed his parents with his singing, especially when he sang a song called "When the Spirit of the Lord."
After high school, Darius went to The College of Wooster in Ohio. He received a special scholarship called the Posse Foundation scholarship. While in college, he was part of many music groups, like the Wooster Chorus and the Wooster Jazz Ensemble. He even led his own band called Freddie Cool.
Darius also had internships at MTV and The National Conference of Black Mayors. He was also one of the first team members for a cool clothing brand called Kith. In 2011, he studied in Paris, France, where he learned about French business and fashion. He graduated in 2013 with a special degree in arts and media management. After college, he moved to Texas to work for a big store called Neiman Marcus.
Music Career Journey
Starting with The Voice
In November 2014, Darius Scott released his first music project called Masterpiece. He produced this Christian/Gospel album himself. He described it as a young man's spiritual journey, exploring what faith-based music could be.
The next year, Darius became a contestant on Season 9 of The Voice. He joined the team of famous musician Pharrell Williams.

After The Voice and New Albums
Even after The Voice, Darius stayed in touch with his mentor, Pharrell Williams. He also started working with many other contestants from the show. In 2018, he released his own electro-R&B album called YOUNG. He said this album was about a young person finding their true voice and pushing their artistic limits.
In 2019, Darius was asked to help with Chance The Rapper's album The Big Day. He worked on many parts of the album. In 2020, he helped arrange the vocals for an acoustic version of the song "Holy" by Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper.
Later, Darius Scott signed a record deal with Roc Nation, a big music company. He then released his first project with them, called Darling.
A huge moment for DIXSON came when he sent several songs to Beyoncé. She invited him to her studio to create a song for the movie King Richard. This song became "Be Alive", which was nominated for a Grammy and an Oscar in 2021! He also helped write songs for Beyoncé's 2022 album Renaissance, including "Virgo's Groove" and "Pure/Honey".
In 2022, Darius released his fourth project, 004Daisy. This album featured collaborations with artists like Tinashe and Vic Mensa. In 2024, he contributed to Beyoncé's album Cowboy Carter by helping with "American Requiiem" and "Amen." He also worked on more than 10 songs for Kehlani's projects Crash and While We Wait 2. DIXSON also co-wrote songs for the group Flo and rapper Doechii.
