Football League Money Growth

In 2011, a report called the "Annual Review of Football Finance" showed that the top five football leagues in Europe grew a lot. Their total money earned went up by 4 percent, reaching a record high of 16.3 billion euros in the 2009-10 season. The biggest five leagues (England, Germany, Spain, Italy, and France) together earned 8.4 billion euros, which was a 5 percent increase from the year before.

Clubs that played in the 2008–09 UEFA Champions League also earned a lot of money. For example, Barcelona and Manchester United, who were the two teams in the final, earned the most. Barcelona won the final and got 51 million euros, while Manchester United, even though they lost, earned even more at 53 million euros!
