Dick's Sporting Goods Park, also known as DSG Park, is a special soccer-specific stadium in Commerce City, Colorado. It is the home field for the Colorado Rapids, a professional men's soccer team in MLS.
The stadium can hold up to 18,061 fans for soccer games. For special soccer events, it can fit 19,734 people. When concerts are held, the stadium can host up to 27,000 visitors. It opened in 2007 and became the third home for the Rapids team. This stadium is very high up, sitting over 5,200 feet (1,600 meters) above sea level. This makes it the highest stadium used regularly by MLS teams.

History of Dick's Sporting Goods Park
Before this stadium, the Colorado Rapids played at two other places. They played at Mile High Stadium from 1996 to 2000. Then they moved to Invesco Field at Mile High from 2001 to 2006.
In 2004, the soccer club and Commerce City planned a big project. It included youth soccer fields, shops, and a new city center. The stadium itself cost $64.5 million to build. Voters in Commerce City agreed to spend $65 million to improve the area around the stadium.
Construction started in the fall of 2005. The stadium is near Denver's old Stapleton International Airport. In November 2006, the company Dick's Sporting Goods bought the rights to name the stadium for 20 years.
Opening and First Games
The stadium first opened with a special game just for local residents and season ticket holders. The very first official soccer match was on April 7, 2007. The Colorado Rapids played against D.C. United and won 2–1. Herculez Gomez scored the first goal ever at the stadium.
In its first year, Dick's Sporting Goods Park hosted the 2007 MLS All-Star Game. In this game, the MLS All-Stars played against Scotland's Celtic FC and won.
The Rapids played their first playoff game at DSG Park on October 28, 2010. They won 1–0 against the Columbus Crew. Two weeks later, almost 18,000 fans watched the Rapids win against the San Jose Earthquakes. This win helped them get to their first-ever MLS Cup.
Who Owns and Runs the Stadium?
Commerce City owns the stadium. It is operated by Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE). KSE also owns other sports teams like the Colorado Avalanche (hockey) and the Denver Nuggets (basketball). They also own the Colorado Mammoth (lacrosse) and the English Premier League soccer club Arsenal F.C.. The whole project, including the stadium, cost about $131 million. The city and KSE shared the cost equally.

Music Events
Dick's Sporting Goods Park is not just for sports; it's also a popular place for concerts and music festivals.
Mile High Music Festival
From 2008 to 2010, the stadium grounds hosted the Mile High Music Festival every year. The first festival had about 40,000 people each day. The festival used the open soccer fields around the stadium for extra stages. This allowed many more people to attend than the stadium alone could hold.
