Different Versions of Disney Channel
Disney Channel has different versions for various regions. This helps them offer content in local languages.
- Disney Channel Eastern Europe is available in Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria. It has audio tracks in Romanian, Bulgarian, and English.
- Disney Channel Central Europe can be watched in Czechia, Slovakia, and Hungary. It offers audio in Czech, Hungarian, and English.
- Disney Channel Russia is a free channel in Russia. It is also a pay TV channel in Belarus, Kazakhstan, and other former Soviet countries. This does not include Ukraine, Moldova, or the Baltic states.
When Disney Channel Eastern Europe shows commercials, it uses the Romanian word "RECLAME". This is different from when it was Jetix. Jetix used to show both "RECLAME" (Romanian) and "РЕКЛАМА" (Bulgarian).
Where You Can Watch It
Disney Channel Eastern Europe is available through all pay TV providers in Romania. Many cable companies in Moldova also include it. In Serbia, Disney Channel EMEA is part of the basic package on the digital platform Digi TV.
In Bulgaria, Fox Kids, then Jetix, and now Disney Channel have been available since 1999. They often had audio in Russian, Romanian, Turkish, or English. In October 2007, a Bulgarian audio track was added for some shows on Jetix. bTV in Bulgaria also showed a Jetix block. Media Link helped with translating and distributing the Bulgarian version. By early 2009, most shows were translated into Bulgarian.
Jetix in Russia was based on this channel. However, any Disney-related content was replaced with Jetix promos. Some shows not on the regular Jetix CEE, like W.I.T.C.H. and Iggy Arbuckle, were part of a special block. When Jetix CEE became Disney Channel, the Russian broadcast continued. For a while, it was only in English. Later, Ukrainian language broadcast started, and shows were mixed in English, Russian, and Ukrainian. The Ukrainian broadcast stopped in 2013. Jetix Russia continued as a separate channel until August 10, 2010.
Disney Junior
Playhouse Disney started as a block on Disney Channel. In 2010, Playhouse Disney became its own channel, taking the place of Jetix Play. Then, in June 2011, Playhouse Disney changed its name to Disney Junior. This channel focuses on shows for younger children.
