Dublin is a city in Erath County, Texas, USA. In 2020, about 3,359 people lived there. This was a bit less than the 3,654 people who lived there in 2010.
Dublin was once home to the world's oldest Dr Pepper bottling plant. For many years, this plant was the only place in the U.S. that made Dr Pepper with real cane sugar. Most other Dr Pepper drinks used high-fructose corn syrup. The plant could only sell its drinks within a 40-mile area around Dublin. This area included towns like Stephenville, Tolar, Comanche, and Hico.
Dublin was the end point for the Wichita Falls and Southern Railroad. This train line was closed down in 1954.
The famous golfer Ben Hogan grew up in Dublin. He was born on August 13, 1912, in nearby Stephenville. Ben Hogan lived in Dublin until 1921, when his family moved to Fort Worth.
Another important person from Dublin was Lt. Col. George Andrew Davis, Jr.. He was born in Dublin and received the Medal of Honor. This is the highest award for bravery in the U.S. military. He earned it on February 10, 1952, during a battle in North Korea.
In 2005, the Governor Rick Perry signed a law that named Dublin the official Irish Capital of Texas. This is because many people in Dublin have Irish American family roots.

Exploring Dublin's Location
Dublin is located in the southwestern part of Erath County. U.S. Route 377 goes around the west side of the city. It leads northeast about 13 miles to Stephenville, which is the main town of the county. It also goes southwest about 21 miles to Comanche.
Texas State Highway 6 runs through the middle of Dublin. It is known as Blackjack Street. This highway goes southeast about 20 miles to Hico and west about 12 miles to De Leon. The city of Fort Worth is about 80 miles northeast of Dublin. Waco is about 90 miles southeast.
The United States Census Bureau says that Dublin covers a total area of about 9.3 square kilometers (3.59 square miles). All of this area is land.

Fun Events in Dublin
Dublin hosts several fun events throughout the year.
Around St. Patrick's Day, the community has a parade. They also have an "ambassador" pageant and other activities.
Every June, Dublin celebrates the birthday of Dr Pepper. This event remembers when Dublin had the oldest Dr Pepper bottling plant in the world. This plant used the original recipe with pure cane sugar. After some legal issues, Dr Pepper Snapple and the Dublin bottling company separated. The company is now called Dublin Bottling Works. It still holds the birthday celebration every June.
The Dr Pepper birthday events happen at the same time as the Irish Stampede. This is a charity run sponsored by the local Lions Club. There is also the "Tour de Agua" bicycle race. Many former students from Dublin schools come back for the annual Dublin Area Reunion during this time.
The community also celebrates its large Hispanic population. They have events during Cinco de Mayo in May. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated in September and October.
The Dublin Chamber of Commerce helps with a bass-fishing tournament in July at Proctor Lake. In October, there are safe trick-or-treating activities for Halloween. Christmas celebrations happen on the first Thursday in December, including a Christmas parade.
The Double In Cowboy Church holds regular barrel races and other horse-riding events.
Visitors can explore five local museums in Dublin. These include the Rodeo Heritage Museum, the Dublin Historical Museum, the Dr Pepper Museum, the National Health and Public Safety History Museum, and the famous Ben Hogan Museum.
