Jason Andrew Bent, born on March 8, 1977, is a Canadian soccer star. He used to play as a midfielder. Today, he is an assistant coach for the LA Galaxy soccer team.
During his playing career, Jason played for several teams. These included the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer (MLS). He also played for FSV Zwickau in Germany and Plymouth Argyle in England. Jason proudly represented his home country, Canada, in 32 international games.

Jason Bent's Playing Career
Early Days and Club Soccer
Jason Bent started his soccer journey playing college soccer at the University of Maryland. After college, he moved to Germany to play for FSV Zwickau for one season.
In 1998, Jason joined the Colorado Rapids in the MLS. While with the Rapids, he helped his team reach the finals of the US Open Cup. This is a big tournament for soccer clubs in the United States.
Later, in 2001, Jason moved to England. He signed with Plymouth Argyle. He helped them win two important championships. They won the English Third Division Championship in 2002. Then, in 2004, they won the English Second Division Championship. These wins showed how important he was to the team.
Playing for Canada
Jason Bent also had a great international career playing for Canada. He played in the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Japan. He was on a team with other future stars like Paul Stalteri. He also played in the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship in Malaysia.
He made his first game for the senior Canadian team in October 1997. This was a World Cup qualification match against Mexico. In total, he played 32 games for Canada. He also played in 11 FIFA World Cup qualification matches.
Jason was part of the team that won the 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup. This was a huge win for Canada in soccer. Even though he was injured, he was still a valuable member of the squad. In the 2002 Gold Cup, Jason scored a very important penalty kick. This helped Canada finish in third place in the tournament.
His last international game was in November 2003 against Republic of Ireland. Sadly, he got a serious knee injury during this game. He tried to recover for two years, but his injury was too severe. Jason announced he was retiring from playing soccer on March 23, 2006.
Jason Bent's Coaching Career
After his playing career ended, Jason Bent started coaching. In 2008, he became an assistant coach for the TFC Academy. This is a youth soccer academy connected to Toronto FC. He later became the head coach for the U-18 program at the academy.
He coached the U-18 team until 2011. During this time, two of his players, Doneil Henry and Nicholas Lindsay, moved up to play for the main Toronto FC team. This showed how good he was at developing young talent.
In February 2011, Jason became an assistant coach for the main Toronto FC team. He worked with the head coach, Aron Winter. Then, in November 2014, Jason was named the head coach of Toronto FC II. This is Toronto FC's team that plays in the USL Pro league.
In 2018, he returned to the first team as an assistant coach for Greg Vanney. He continued in this role until 2021. Since 2021, Jason Bent has been an assistant coach for the LA Galaxy. He is still working with Greg Vanney there.
