Jason Andrew Bent, born on March 8, 1977, is a Canadian former soccer player. He is now an assistant coach for the LA Galaxy team. Jason played as a midfielder. He played for teams like the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer (MLS). He also played for FSV Zwickau in Germany and Plymouth Argyle in England. Jason played 32 games for the Canadian national team.

Jason Bent's Club Soccer Journey
Jason Bent started his soccer career playing for the University of Maryland. After college, he played one season with FSV Zwickau in Germany.
Playing for Colorado Rapids
Later, Jason moved to the Colorado Rapids in MLS. While with the Rapids, he helped his team reach the finals of the US Open Cup. This is a big soccer tournament in the United States.
Success with Plymouth Argyle
In 2001, Jason joined Plymouth Argyle in England. He helped the team win two important championships. They won the English Third Division Championship in 2002. Then, they won the English Second Division Championship in 2004. These wins helped the team move up to higher leagues.

Youth World Championships

Playing for Canada's Senior Team
Jason made his first appearance for the senior Canadian team in October 1997. This was a World Cup qualification game against Mexico. He played a total of 32 games for Canada. In soccer, playing a game for your country is called earning a "cap."
He played in 11 FIFA World Cup qualification matches. He also took part in the 2001 Confederations Cup, which is a tournament for national teams.
Gold Cup Achievements
Jason was part of the team that won the 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup. This is a major tournament for teams in North and Central America. Even though he was injured, he was still a valuable team member. In the 2002 Gold Cup, Jason scored a very important penalty kick. This helped Canada finish in third place in the tournament.
Career-Ending Injury
Sadly, Jason's last international game was in November 2003. During a friendly match against Republic of Ireland, he got a serious knee injury. He spent two years trying to recover. But, he could not get back to playing soccer. Jason officially retired from playing on March 23, 2006.

After his playing career ended, Jason Bent became a soccer coach.
Starting at TFC Academy
He began coaching in 2008 as an assistant coach for the TFC Academy. This academy helps young soccer players develop their skills. Jason later became the head coach for the academy's Under-18 team. He helped two players, Doneil Henry and Nicholas Lindsay, move up to the main Toronto FC team.
Coaching Toronto FC
In 2011, Jason became an assistant coach for the main Toronto FC team. He worked with the head coach, Aron Winter. Later, in 2014, Jason was named the head coach of Toronto FC II. This is Toronto FC's team that plays in a lower league.
Moving to LA Galaxy
In 2018, Jason returned to be an assistant coach for the main Toronto FC team again. He worked with coach Greg Vanney. In 2021, Jason followed Greg Vanney to the LA Galaxy team. He is now an assistant coach there.
