Becoming a Child Therapist
In 2021, Kate Silverton decided to leave the BBC to follow her "life's passion" and become a qualified child therapist. She explained that her background in child psychology and becoming a mom really inspired her. She had been thinking about this career change for many years, learning about children's mental health and getting advice from experts. Kate even said that when she was on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, she already planned to leave journalism to train as a child therapist. Today, she works in a primary school, helping young children who have complex needs.
Her Family Life
Kate married Mike Heron in 2010. On 5 November 2011, they welcomed their first child, a baby girl. Kate had been told it might be difficult for her to get pregnant naturally after an operation when she was 29. However, after trying for a while, she was able to have her daughter naturally.
On 25 January 2014, when she was 43, Kate announced that she was expecting her second child. She shared the happy news on Twitter, saying that her daughter was going to be a big sister. Their second child, a son, was born on 26 June 2014.
