Cinderella is a kind and gentle young woman. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. Many different stories about her exist from various countries.
After her father passes away, Cinderella is forced to work as a servant in her own home. Her evil stepmother, Lady Tremaine, and stepsisters, Anastasia and Drizella, constantly torment her. Despite this, Cinderella never loses hope. She dreams of happiness and believes her kindness will be rewarded.
Cinderella is practical but also loves to daydream. For example, she gets distracted by bubbles while cleaning. She also dances dreamily after hearing about the Grand Duke's search for the slipper. She can also be quite witty and sarcastic.
Her animal friends help her fix an old dress. She plans to wear it to a royal ball. However, her stepsisters cruelly tear the dress apart. This leaves Cinderella heartbroken.
But then, her Fairy Godmother appears! She magically changes Cinderella's torn dress. It becomes a beautiful silver-blue ball gown. She also gets sparkling glass slippers. Cinderella wears her hair in a French twist with a silver headband. She also has silver gloves and a black choker.
When she works as a servant, Cinderella wears her hair in a ponytail. She has a brown dress with a blue blouse, a white apron, and black shoes.
Ilene Woods voiced Cinderella in the original film. Later, Jennifer Hale voiced her in the sequels.
In the 2015 live-action movie, her original name was Ella. "Cinderella" was a mean nickname. Her stepsisters gave it to her after she slept near the fireplace and got covered in ash. In this film, Eloise Webb played young Ella. Lily James played the older Ella.

In the first movie, Cinderella saves the mice from traps and the cat Lucifer. She also dresses and feeds them. In return, they help her a lot. Jaq seems to be a leader among the mice. He plans ways to avoid Lucifer and find food. He also helps Cinderella with her ball gown. Jaq is thin with messy hair. He speaks quickly in a simple English.
Gus first appears trapped in a cage. Jaq finds him and brings Cinderella to rescue him. Cinderella names him "Octavius" and calls him "Gus" for short. Gus is a bit slow but brave. He has a big belly and speaks even more broken English than Jaq. Jaq often calls him "Gus-Gus."
The Fairy Godmother turns Jaq and Gus into horses. This helps Cinderella go to the ball. But at midnight, they turn back into mice. Later, Jaq and Gus bravely steal the key to Cinderella's room. This allows Cinderella to try on the glass slipper. They are last seen in tiny palace uniforms at Cinderella's wedding.
Jaq and Gus in the Sequels
In Cinderella II: Dreams Come True, Gus and Jaq live in the castle. Gus suggests making a new book of stories. In one story, Jaq wishes he was human. The Fairy Godmother grants his wish. He tries to help Cinderella but realizes he prefers being a mouse.
In Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, Jaq and Gus help the Fairy Godmother. They prepare for Cinderella's anniversary party. When Lady Tremaine reverses time, they help Cinderella find the Prince. They discover Lady Tremaine's dark magic. They even witness her spell on the Prince.
They manage to steal the magic wand back. Lady Tremaine has Cinderella arrested. But Gus and Jaq convince the Prince that Cinderella is the right girl. They sing a catchy song called "At the Ball." They later help Cinderella get ready for her wedding. Lady Tremaine tries to stop them. Cinderella, Jaq, and Gus narrowly escape. They return to the palace. The mice help Cinderella get past the guards.
Jaq appears in the video game Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. He helps Ventus, who is shrunk to mouse size. They gather materials for Cinderella's dress. Jaq also tries to get the key to Cinderella's room. Aqua protects him from enemies.
Jimmy MacDonald voiced both mice in the first film. In the sequels, Rob Paulsen voices Jaq. Corey Burton voices Gus.
In the 2015 live-action movie, Jaq is a female mouse named Jacqueline. Gus is still male and called Gus-Gus.

In Cinderella, Anastasia is demanding but not as bad as Drizella. She often argues with her sister. But they both feel jealous of Cinderella. Anastasia usually wears a pink dress with a fuchsia top. Her hair is tied in long sausage curls. For the ball, she wears a lavender dress. In the first film, she was seen as physically unattractive. But in the sequels, she becomes more beautiful as her inner goodness grows.
Anastasia's Journey in the Sequels
In Cinderella II, Anastasia becomes more sympathetic. She falls in love with a baker. Her mother doesn't approve because he isn't wealthy. Cinderella encourages Anastasia to follow her heart. With Cinderella's help, Anastasia gets a makeover and becomes more beautiful. Anastasia and the baker reunite. She stands up to her mother. They attend Cinderella's ball together.

After a fight with Lady Tremaine and Drizella, Anastasia helps Cinderella. The two evil ladies are turned into toads. Anastasia uses the wand to fix everything. She makes peace with Cinderella. Cinderella invites her to stay in the castle as her lady-in-waiting. Anastasia happily accepts. This shows she has a kind heart.
Over the films, Anastasia becomes less "ugly" and more "plain" or "sweet." This is partly because she smiles more. It's also due to the animators' work.

Later in the series, Drizella turns on Anastasia. She physically intimidates her. Drizella obeys her mother's every command. She schemes with her to hurt Cinderella.
